Strapless - yes or no?

I'm assuming that's a general comment and not aimed at me specifically?
Given that I have not at any point given an opinion about what is or is not suitable church attire.
It was a general comment, of course
I was trying to explain why in certain places certain dress code applies.
As for strapless dresses being unsuitable in a church (unless with a bolero, shawl etc.), I think we will have to agree to disagree, picklepick. However, I was not referring to anyone in particular, so if you take it to yourself, it's entirely your choice. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
As the person who started this thread, I did not intend for it to cause any upset! Everyone has different tastes and that's a good thing. If you want a strapless dress, great
I very much didn't, and found it frustrating how little non-strapless selection there was in the shops. I was asking whether strapless is a yay or a nay for an individual, not for everyone; and whether it's true that strapless dresses are too ubiquitous at the expense of other styles. That's all. Honest.
And there were a few critical comments on modest dresses too, so it hasn't been all one way traffic. In any case, nobody should feel bad about their own choice.

Thank you for clarifying.
I had thought so but thought it prudent to check.Herman - MP for all!0 -
You know, everyone staring at me in a dress was the most stressful thing in thinking about a wedding. Whether we like it or not, people look at brides and decide what they think of the dress.
I briefly sat near someone at a wedding years ago who was engaged and planning her big day. At almost every detail she said 'I wouldn't have that for my wedding'. I quickly moved! That's an extreme thing to do, but I think it's mad not to think that at some level, outfits are judged. It's the human thing to do!
As I've said already, I think fit is as important as style and it's not all about size.... in fact the 'worst' wedding dress I've seen at a wedding was one where the very slim and pretty bride picked a style that had a kind of empire line and extra material at the tummy. So lots of people wondered if she was pregnant. She wasn't at all (the drinking on the night hit that rumour on the head!), but the dress seemed an add choice. (I think she'd look good in a paper bag and she didn't look bad by any means - it was just an odd fit for someone who doesn't have an ounce of unnecessary body fat, especially when it fitted well everywhere else.)
Now she was happy and felt fantastic and presumably has no idea what some people thought because no-one (I hope!) would be rude enough to say anything. It just shows that you can have the best figure in the world and if something doesn't fit, it will look a little funny and people will notice.:happyhear0
