Yes, any garages I've test driven cars from have had their own insurance to cover cars when they're on a test drive by potential buyers. I'd have thought that would be the case for all garages but if not I'm sure they'd say as they'd be liable as well for letting someone take a car without insurance.

OK thanks. I'll phone the ones I'm going to and find out. I can get insurance for the day if not, don't want to be going out without cover.0

Thanks guys, for all your advice. Today I went out and bought this:
http://www.mhmotor.co.uk/Large.asp?Main=3&Sub=1&ProdID=297
Drives very well, looks as good as it does in the pics. I found another Ka lower spec, for £1500 with white leather interior, in equally good condition but decided in the end on the Sport version. £1900 including six month warranty, think this is ok. The Ka's were the ones that felt good to drive, i did test drive a few of the others above and ones I'd seen online. Something felt right about these, and I love the leather interiors.
Been an exhausting day in a frustrating Chevrolet spark which I hired - not the best of drives in my opinion!0 -
Some cars for you to have a look at;
Fiat Punto 1.2
Nissan Micra
Peugeot 206
Seat Ibiza
Vauxhall Corsa
Ford Fiesta
Ford KA
Nothing wrong with Fiats, they're as reliable as anything else as long as you look after them.
ps thanks Buscape, as I saw three of these dealers today, and bought my car from one of them!:) Was great to see them all (and more) for comparison.0 -
