hair removal (merged)

Hi Guys
I am off to South Africa for two weeks next Thursday and I need to get 'Ready'.
I admit to being absolutely terrified of waxing (apart from my eyebrows), so I want your advise on the best Hair Removal Cream.
In the past I have used VEET (the shower one) and have not found it the most effective!
Any suggestions?
P.S: How painful is Waxing? "Never save something for a special occasion. Every day in your life is a special occasion". _party_0 -
Waxing really doesnt hurt if done correctly. To give you an idea of how pain free it is I done hubby's shoulders and back of neck for the first time last week and he didn't flinch, and lets face it men are wimps when it comes to pain
However with only two weeks to go, unless you haven't done any hair removal for sometime, it wont be worth going for a wax as you really need six weeks growth to get the best results and for areas other then the legs Id always advise getting it done professionally.
Creams I have had no luck with at all so cant advise.
Have a great holiday0 -
Regarding waxing - it depends a lot on what hair colour you have as they have different thicknesses. I have red hair which is the most coarse (lovely!) and so having my legs waxed is the most awful experience I have had (on a par with giving birth I think.) Others will tell you it's a walk in the park, but a lot depends on your pain threshold and time of the month too. The only way you will know is by having it done.
I use the VEET in-shower cream and won't use anything else now. By the time I have applied it, got into the shower and washed the 'upper parts' the down-belows are done and dustedYOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)
really....it's not hard to understand :T0 -
Can I hijack this thread and ask if anyone's found any creams for really sensitive skin? Every one I've tried seems to bring me out in a rash (tried the sensitive ones and still the same). Maybe I'm just allergic to something in them, though."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I'm not having alot of luck with various products of late and seems to be the story of my life...
Last year I used VEET bikini cream for sensitive skin.... Within seconds I was burnt and blistered - and not a nice area for that to happen.
My niece, who is a hairdresser (no, she didn't make me a 'wig'), told me that a number of her clients had had similar experiences. Its put me off that product, naturally. So by comparison, a few seconds of waxing 'ouch' is fine by me.
That experience kinda ruined a night out for me that could've potentially been alot more fun, and for a woman of my age, oppportunity doesn't knock that often.Genie
