I've heard from friends that the Rio system is just like a torch - absolutely useless, like Star I've also had the misfortune of trying their other products and they are just not that good - so I'd be wary of their brand. Not sure their machine is strong enough to do anything - I think at the moment, if you want real laser hair removal/reduction you have to get it professionally done - which I think would be well worth the investment and initial embarrassment if that is also an issue.0

Hi, I have been using my laser scanner now for about 4 months. I have now started to see good results but only recently...it just takes time. I got mine from a company called Essential Beauty Products they are selling them for £159.99 I havent seen them cheaper anywhere else and I'm great at finding a bargain lol. http://www.ebeautyproducts.co.uk/rio-scanning-laser-hair-remover-lahs---permanent-hair-removal-27-p.asp Hope this helps.0

Thanks everyone, much appreciated!
I definitely can't see my man ever in a million years let me wax it off for him - he's a right wuss when it comes to pain! But by the same token, if these Rio sets were successful I think he'd be willing to put up with a burning type painful sensation if he knew it'd (eventually) become almost permanent (well, permanent reduction anyway!!) Whereas of course waxing has to be done at least on a semi-regular basis.
Will keep researching the laser units. It seems to be very much a case of 75% of people claiming they don't work at all (the Rio ones) and the other 25% saying they work brilliantly - like one extreme to the other. Very odd! I wonder if the 75% who have no luck at all just aren't suitable candidates (maybe light coloured hair, tanned skin, etc?) Or maybe are just doing it on hair thats too long or short? Out of interest, Louise79, are you dark haired with fair skin? And have you followed the instructions to the letter with regards to using it on 2-3mm length hair (which is what I've read on google to be the best)?0 -
I understand that he might not want to go to get this done professionaly- but even for women this is embarassing too! I had IPL (intense pulsated light) treatment to remove unwanted hair and it worked. Might have cost a bit more (£40x 6 sessions) but it got rid of the hair. I finished treatment in September last year and I'm stil hair free. So it's definately worth it. I looked into the rio home system prior to my IPL and definately have to say that I'm glad I didn't waste my money on it!0

Hi
I have one (well actually 2) bought the single one but it was a bit slow
bouught the scanning one , which is better but still only does a small area at a time 2-3mm it does work except on white hair or afro caribean skin
cheapskates tip-- buy it on ebay will be cheaper, as once you have comleted the treatments a few times you dont need it any more, and you could always flog it on when you have finished!!! that should save you the equivelet of £100

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. I am about to book to have my underarms and bikini line done. Could someone tell me if I should book a course of 6 or just pay as I go? I know booking 6 is cheaper but a couple of people have said you only need 3-4 treatments. I am not a very hairy person.
Also is anyone 2 years on from the treatment - has any hair grown back?
Thanks0 -
If they're reputable then surely they will advise you on how much you will need?
I've never had it done or known anyone that's had it done but I've heard that its not as effective as it puports to be. They say its 'permenant' but the definition of 'permenant' in terms of hair re-growth isn't as we would understand it!
If it works though I would love to have it done but think I would need a few more treatments than 6! Best of luck with it0
