The place I went to didn't at any time claim it would be permanent, nor did they specify how many treatments I would need until after the first session.
It is virtually impossible to gauge how many sessions will be needed as everyones hair/skin combination is different so until they know how your hair responds to the first treatment its hard to say.
I 'had' very coarse dark hair on my face and needed about 7 sessions but it had pretty much stopped growing in most areas after 5, the last 2 were for stubborn bits. Now I go back to get a different area done and she just does the odd patch on my face while I am there at no extra cost.

Laser hair removal produces very variable results with different people but the development of different lasers means that some people who previously wouldn't have had much change (redheads or dark skinned with dark hair) can now be treated very effectively.

Underarms and bikini are much thicker hairs so may take more sessions but I would be inclined to just pay as you go. Remember though, the hair can take 10 days or more to fall out so don't book it if you plan to go swimming etc as shaving after it could make your skin sore

thanks thats really useful - I'd discounted it years ago due to concern about effectiveness and cost, but perhaps it needs consideration......

I do a lot of swimming - 4 days a week - so how long do you think I would have to wait after having it done to go swimming again?

(The reason I was asking about a course is because it is over £200 cheaper)

Its probably best to ask one of the people doing it as they will know more about the particular laser they use. I can use an electric razor on mine 2 days later without it being too painful so that could be an option.
I also have very sensitive skin so yours might be fine the next day best check with the experts :)

Thanks for this info, I am thinking of having this done too. If the course is significantly cheaper, probably go for that, as you can maybe get other areas done (with advice from the surgery/salon (?)) if 3-4 was enough for bikini and underarms.

I have coarse hair on some parts of my body, so any which way, I think I will be needing a course of treatments!
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

It has almost become an addiction for me :rotfl:as soon as one area is finished I spend the money on another bit but in fairness I was very yeti-like so there is alot to treat

I'm on my 8th session on underarms and bikini line, and 6 wasn't enough on my legs either.

I know several people who have had it done, and they've all needed more than 6 sessions.

I'm sure many have used Laser removal successfully but I have gone off the idea after reading this

have to stick to creams/razor instead
