I've had terrible ingrowing hairs from an epilator - ouch! Now I prefer to shave and wax (or neither in the winter, just go 'au naturel' gorrilla stylee)Mortgage-free wannabe!0

I've been having my legs waxed for years and I wouldn't hair-remove any other way! The way to avoid in-grown hairs is to exfolliate regularly. I use a massage sponge, it works a treat! Years ago I used to get the odd in-grown hair (probably because I didn't exfolliate!) and I used to scratch the surface of the hair with my tweezers then 'dig' it out. It's the only way or it will continue to grow under the skin. A dab of TCP once you have removed the hair and yeah! you're done.~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -

It's not too bad actually and I don't have a high pain threashold. It barely hurts and the relief when you have got it out makes it worth it. In-Grown hairs can go sceptic so it is important for you to get them out. Once you put on TCP or Dettol it will heal quickly and be pain free. Tip....dip your tweezers in TCP or Dettol prior to 'digging' it out, just an extra precaution to avoid infection. That's what I do and have never had any problems.~What you send out comes back to thee thricefold!~~0 -
I've come to the conclusion that Men's grooming products are best when it comes to shaving. Not only that, men's razors are cheaper than those silly pink ones they try to get us girls to buy!
I recently did a bit of research into the subject. I have very sensitive skin and I wanted to find the best way to shave my legs & various other areas (!) without provoking a rash, without removing my fake tan and without spending too much money. In case anybody's interested, here are my findings:
Razors: Good if used with decent shaving foam but shaving rash is a problem.
Epilators - GAAAAHHHH Instrument of torture!! I didn't even find this worked very well, it just broke the hairs off and left stubble.
Cold wax strips: Painful and not brilliant, a lot of hairs just wouldn't come out and as I'm tall 1 box isn't enough for my legs!
Phillips Ladyshave: Naff results, stubble left behind.
In the end I decided to speak to some men about it, I mean they shave their faces every day so I reckoned their opinions might be worth listening to for a change...
I ended up getting a mens shaver: Philishave Micro Plus HQ40 which cost me £9.99 at Boots compared to the cheapest "ladies" shaver which was double! I chose the battery version because I'm going travelling for a few months.
I figure I'm going to save a fortune on disposable razors & foam
You get a pretty close shave and I'm very happy with my bargain...only problem is hubby has started using it too!!! :mad:Debt 2007 £17k

I could'nt think where else to put this but if its in the wrong place please feel free to move it
I'm dark haired and have problems with the hair on my top lip being dark too. It only really bothers me when we are going out with friends and usually I bleach it with a creme bleach. This is getting expensive to buy though lately and I have thought of using the small facial hair waxing strips that are available. My concern though is that the hair might get even darker or, god forbid thicker. Can anyone give me their experiences about waxing their top lips and/or any tips when using them, other than the instructions they give you with the product. for example.....how often will I need to wax? will the hair get darker or thicker? Also I assume my lip will go red and be sore (never waxed any part of me before!) so if I do go for waxing would it be best to do it in the evening so the redness settles down overnight?
Thanks for any and all thoughts, feelings and tips.
Happy xmas by the way :santa2::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi there
I use the cold wax strips and they're fine - just heat them up by holding them in the palm of your hand. I do mine every 3/4 weeks. No probs at all. I would do it the evening before as your lip does go red.

A Mach 3 razor does the job very well for me.0

How often do you have to bleach? A tub lasts me about a year & costs around £4.50. I do pluck the odd few dark ones out in between bleaching sessions.
Would it actually work out much cheaper for you to buy the wax strips I wonder? The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
