Its related to my PCOS so quite bad but GP wont refer me as she claims I could be waiting for up to 18months!! So I decided to go private but try and source it as cheap as possible. I scar easily and am diabetic so most hair removal techniques like electrolysis and waxing arent suitable and it doesnt respond to creams :( I'll look up epil-pro but if it involves epilation its probably out as I just tried a session of it and its left me with stubble, scarring, bumps and spots :(

All the more reason to refer you NOW! Honestly, what does it matter what the waiting list is, that's not a reason NOT to refer you, unless YOU say "Don't bother, I can't wait that long."

Somebody somewhere flagged up a site where you could see what the waiting list was in various parts of the country for different things. Anyone know what it was?

The normal rate where I go (the salon in a local fitnness club) is £200 for legs and £80 for under arms per session.

The number of sessions depends on your skin colour and how thick and dark the hair is. Dark skin needs more sessions, as the intensity of the light has to be less, due to 'bounce back'. (Not a very technical explanation, but the best way I can describe it with my very limited knowledge). They won't trest tanned skin for this reason, as there is a chance of burning.

Happily however, there are frequent special offers. 6 treatments for the price of 5 is always on. They've had 2 lots of half price offers in the last 6 months, so that helps as well.

I don't find it painful at all - you need to wear goggles to protect your eyes so the only area they can't do is eyebrows. I had to fill in a long medical questionnaire before they would start treatment.

Good luck - hope it works for you.

    Hi

I guess it was more of a mutual decision as in "if you are finding it such a problem, I wont refer you, you might as well go private". I don't mind paying as I have a big trip planned next year and I want to really have it gone by then. 13 years of it is more than enough :)

Right, really need to phone the hospital today and see if they do anything like this at a discount.

BTW, I was recomended to use Blemishes in Manchester. The salon I tried that doesnt do dark skin but is otherwise very good is New Woman in Westhoughton, Bolton.
