  • Do you people feel no pain?!

women are very strong, thats why human population can grow, coz at time of giving birth, most women say 'never again' , after pain they have gone thru. however, it doesn't last, as some are back again next year!

i dont think this would have been the case if men gave birth! it surely would have been a one off thing , thats if they managed it first time.
    Nice to save.

Which treatments are good? I heard mentioned something about a yellow/red light thingy that can be used instead of laser treatment with good results. Can someone please tell me the name and if it is any good?

    Thanks

  • Hope this is in the right place!

I need help with a very embarrassing problem :o

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 1994. Although I do have problems with irregular periods I have a very embarrassing problem is excess facial and body hair which I find can be very traumatic at times especially when friends suggest we have a pampering day with facials and massages etc!!

I tried Dianette which is a contraceptive pill which when taken over a long period of time can reduce the hair growth, the only problem was that I was getting extremely bad migraines for about 4 days at a time and as a result I had to stop taking it. I'm at the stage now where I'm plucking hairs out of my face about twice a day! I went to see my GP recently who referred me to a specialist at the hospital to see if I could get laser treatment on the NHS. I was told that I couldn't get this treatment as it was considered cosmetic - traumatic more like! I was given some cream which works like the Dianette but would have to use it for a long time to start noticing any results so I have decided to start saving or take out a loan to have laser treatment. My question is, does anyone know where to get it cheap??? I'm a stay at home mum so obviously dont have much money to spare but this is really important to me so would be prepared to go up to about £500, can anyone help?

  • The following study may be of interest to you but bear in mind it was a very small study so the results may not in practice apply to you also.
Vitamin D and calcium dysregulation in the polycystic ovarian syndrome.
It will not cost very much to try to see if Vitamin D repletion with calcium therapy makes a difference.

The easiest way to correct vitamin D deficiency is to fill up the empty vitamin D tank by taking an oral dose of 50,000 IU of vitamin D once per week for 8 weeks. To maintain vitamin D sufficiency, you should take either 50,000 IU of vitamin D once or twice per month thereafter. Or if you find it easier take 4000iu (10tablets) daily until the sun is strong enough to subathe outside for a sufficient time. See Free Vitamin D calculator

Healthy Direct via quidco sell Vitamin D at £4.95 for 360x400iu tablets As you will need 125 to get 50000iu you will need to buy more than one box. So take advantage of the code ep781 to reduce the price a bit more.

Using food sources for the calcium see Havard calcium food sources table but as you would need 1500mg this will take more than a yoghurt +glass of milk + piece of cheese + sesame seeds so you may find it easier to simply take one of Zipvits 1500mg coral Calcium tablets

    That's really interesting!

You're a mine of info Ted. I'm going to look into this-my daughter has just been referred to a paediatric endocrinologist for some severe PCO symptoms. All the females in my family are the same. Food for thought there.

While waiting, researching and saving, is it worth trying waxing? I don't know WHY it would work differently to using tweezers, but it's meant to lead to slower, finer hair growth, I think.

  • Since posting on this thread a long while ago, I have invested in a home waxing kit similar to what they use in salons.

Have just used it for the third time on bottom half of legs with results which are getting better each time.

Getting the technique right is difficult but Im getting there and love the results.

I still get the tops done at a salon but will maybe have a go myself when i get a little more experienced.

My main reason for doing this rather than shaving is that come summer time we are wanting to get into camping and I dont want the hassle of having to shave legs in possibly dodgy shower cubicles on camp sites :o

I've split up with my partner and am letting all my bits grow nice and hairy except my underarms which I shave . I was looking at my legs today funny enough and they have started to look like a footballers but I just don't care. Have had every thing waxed at some point, underarms NEVER again!!!!

Why not your underarms? I have mine waxed (along with my legs) every 3 weeks and no way would I go back to shaving!

Granted, the first time I had underarms done it was critical, but having smooth pits for weeks with no shaving had me going back for more. Now, years later, the hair hardly grows and I barely feel it. It's worth persevering with waxing, it really is.
