  • Hello Forum

I am very new to this so hello all!

Today I decided to do my last minute shopping, I had used my card for several items and had £54 left on my card. When I went into a superstore to get my main shopping for the weekend it got declined at the checkout which I found bizarre!

I went into my bank to retrieve my savings for extra money and asked what had happened, they told me Green Leaf Finance had taken £49.99 out of my account. Now I have never applied for any loan so it is beyond me how they managed to get my details in the first place, the only thing I do is online purchases such as Ebay, I'm thinking I haven't been very vigilant this time and maybe done something wrong. I do not even have an account with these people. I tried phoning whilst I was in my local high street etc but nothing, I've also emailed and it got an error message.

My bank have told me the transaction was authorised so there is nothing I can do until they claim the money. I am very confused and need some urgent help with this, How can they take money without me giving them my card details? and never being a customer etc? ..

How do I get this back urgently?

    Many Thanks!
  • No finance company has invented your debit card details. Someone, somewhere has given them the details. In all probability, you have given them to this company or one of its affiliates in the very recent past. If it was not you, then someone has your card details and is committing fraud, and if that is the case, you must contact your bank to report this asap.

  • look guys the best thing is to change your debit card details because this will not stop, they may take a month down the line

If you do not receive any offers of a loan within 6 months of your application you may be entitled to a refund of your application fee. In this event we will refund your fee (less an admin charge of £5.00) within 21 days of the date on which we receive your written request for a refund of your application fee. However, you cannot cancel your application and expect a refund if you have accepted a loan during our exclusive 6 month relationship period, even if, in your opinion it was not directly brokered by us, as any such loan will be deemed that it has been brokered by us for you within the 6 months from the date of your application. Prior to issuing any refund, we may instigate a Credit Check to confirm this. Any requests for a refund should be made in writing to the address at the bottom of this site. A refund cannot be requested until six months after the fee has been charged, to ensure you have not accepted any loan offers.

I do love this part of the terms and conditions, basically if at any point in the following 6 months after signing up, you receive a loan off ANYONE then you won't be entitled to a refund!!! Pretty unreal...

Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!
  • I've had Greenleaf finance take £49.99 from my bank 6 times in 2 months and they didn't once help me get a loan, they re-directed me to company's like Provident that I could find myself anyway. They are simply saying that as soon as they re-direct you to a lender that's their £49.99 earn for doing nothing. Six lots of brokers fees they have taken over the course of 2 months and I only clicked onto their website twice with the 2nd time being a mistake, as soon as provident and greenwood lenders come up again I realised I was back on that website. They say they will not refund me, told them I'm in the process of taking the matter further. The most recent was £49.99 x2 on 21st dec 2012 and it was my last bit of money I had left to get me over Xmas. Fuming I was and still am.

How many more times will you fall for it before realising you are not going to get a loan?

How did you miss the green leaf finance thread just two below this one?

Have a read of it, there might be some advice for you to follow.

Oddly, you are better off now than you would have been had you got a loan. If you had got your Christmas loan, you would be looking for some expensive monthly payments right now, and next month and the month after.

Six times? You mean they charge that broker fee every time they refer you to someone??

Put in your claim in writing and you will eventually get each of these back, minus £5. And don't fall for the fee upfront ones again. I fell for that one twice in the distant past. One was actually with a mortgage broker, one with a loan broker, and I didn't get any money back because the rules were different at the time, the next lender in the chain wanted a fee upfront too and when I wouldn't pay that, the first one (think it was Ocean finance but not totally sure) wouldn't refund as they claimed it was my fault I wouldn't proceed with the loan,. and Trading Standards agreed (this was a long time ago, the rules have changed since) I am never falling for that one again.

If it's this lot, your money is probably long gone: http://www.greenleaffinance.co.uk/. It probably left the country as soon as it disappeared from your account.

Notice the total lack of information on their website.

The domain name registered to a "Non-UK Individual" in April 2012: <http://www.nominet.org.uk/whois/lookup?query=greenleaffinance.co.uk>.

Surprisingly they do appear to have a valid consumer credit licence (07653375): http://www2.crw.gov.uk/pr/default.aspx.

Although that seems to be just another con, this time by the government. It appears that the only qualification applicants must satisfy is having enough cash to pay the fee.

You should immediately contact your bank to stop further payments. It's difficult to tell whether the previous ones were taken, dare I say, legitimately.

How can you not have found a website for them?

Simply put their name into Google and there they are - complete with other sites complaining about them.

    Customer Services Email:

However, put your complaints in good old fashioned writing by recorded delivery letter to:

    Green Leaf Finance Ltd
    35 St. Paul's Square
    Birmingham
    B3 1QX

Someone helpful will put up the template letter to send which I can't find at the moment.

    However..
I have been unsuccessful getting a refund of Green Leaf Finance tough,(through PLFinder)
They are sneaky, they say they need you card details as a security check and that they won't take any money until a loan is taken out, or up to 45 days later
then as soon as you put in the card details
    Boooooom 49.99 comes off
Bank (Halifax) won't refund as they say the problem is between me and the PLFinder (Green Leaf) and the address on the link under Green Leaf Finance doesn't exist - I sent a recorded delivery letter and it was returned to me today as address unknown...Bank advise speaking with Citizens Advice:beer:
