Make a point of contacting your old friends and explain the effects of your illness, and that despite these you would still like to keep in touch.

Whem my mate stopped coming out we eventually got sick of asking him and just assumed that he had found other people to hang around with. If he had let us know about his problems (probably particularly difficult for a bloke to do) then we would have tried to do something for him earlier.

Problem with that is, i live 300 miles away from where im from lol. I have started being a bit more honest with people about whats wrong with me. The few friends i have made here are great with it. My support worker makes me go to "groups" at the childrens centre. To make more local friends. Am also a 15 min drive to the nearest main road/bus route, so my no-driving mates are put off with coming to visit.
Coming on here has helped me snap back to reality when i have felt myself losing control. Helping others makes me feel better.
Am going back to college in Sep (they are very aware of whats wrong with me and very understanding, they are putting things in place for if/when i get ill), that should help me in more ways than one!!!
#muttley......i hide if anyone knocks on my door!!! Mainly as i have a pjama obsession and sometimes they are not the most appropriate thing to have on when someone (unexpected) calls!!! lol x

They also get bullied "your mum has lupus haha!"

My kids got bullied a lot because of me being in a chair. The real nsty kids would say things like "At least my mum's not a disabled freak" and "Your mum is a retard in a chair" etc

It really affected them and it is a combination of things like that, that my statement of not having children if I had known, refers to. There is more to it than kids being nasty but it all adds up to a difficult childhood.

Soapn - total mis-print!!! meant to say 2013!!!!!!!!!! And i will cope just fine! As, due to the amount of medication im on, i shall time it right and make sure i sleep for the whole (10 hrs btw) flight!! SLE makes me very very tired!! So (fingers crossed) it shouldn't be a problem! How did you think it would affect me? Just so i can work out in advance if there is anything i can do to make it easier on me? Hopefully flying first class will help as i can lie down etc. Thanks for your concern and highlighting my misprint!!

Have now re-done my sig, it says 2013, silly me! lolx

Just suggesting that you do a bit more research - for first class you are looking at £5,000 each, and that's flight only. You would be better to look at business class fares, still gets you the flat bed, and if you're not used to premium travel, it will be more than adequate.

Like i said its paid for! I (meaning the bit i paid) paid 2600. Also i have four children, im under no illusion about how much it has cost! Think i need to re-name my wedding fund now lol!! As it isn't that anymore!!

Just realized i put "cost 2600" which is misleading, sorry!

Wow! That is going to be a real experience for you gingergee.

I would love to travel again but would also need to be able to lie flat throughout a flight and the finances aren't ready for that :)

Thanks HB80!! Im quite lucky really. Am looking forward to making our family complete and giving the kids some serious stability. All 6 of my consultants have backed my trip, my Rheumy even joked about buying me a hat!!! I just pray and hope against hope that im not in "flare" then. My Gynecologist has told me i can have injections in the 2 months prior, to stop my body producing oestrogen. As there is a link between that and SLE flares.
Hope one day you can travel again xx

PS sorry to the OP, your post has been hijacked, but with the best intentions! xx

I couldn't manage a flight. The insurance would also be an issue as I have a few conditions and a heart condition.

Good luck Gingergee. You are very fortunate in some respects.

yes, very very fortunate in some respects.
When your life is a mess, stop and think what you are doing before bringing more kids into it, it's not fair on them.
