Always a winning move, unless you're doing that with Virgin. If you get the wrong call centre, you can be told you must go into the "nearest" (100 miles) branch to sign in blood to close an account that has never been used for 2 years. They seem to be extraordinarily clingy and silently ignore requests to close old ISAs or regular savers.Growingold said:
I thought it might be withdrawn after the BOE rate cut so I opened speculatively and have 28 days to fund.. I thought if rates went up elsewhere then I could just let it lapse.Rich2808 said:I see Paragon have withdrawn their 4.28% 15 month fixed rate isa.

I rarely go into branches. Although, I was in a Virgin Money branch one day when I overhead someone else asking to close his account and being told they can't close an online account in branch and then being told if you transfer to a new provider, it'll automatically get closed.gwapenut said:

Did have to stand my ground with a VM branch "advisor" who insisted I couldn't open a Cash ISA with them as I had already opened one that year with Chip. This was some months into the year when the rules changed.
They are dealing with legacy systems hacked together from at least 3 different banks each of which can hold products with different terms. Not really surprising that they sometimes get it wrong, although sometimes it would be good if they said "I don't know, I'll find out" rather than guessing.0 -
Paragon Double Access ISA issue 9 lowering from 4.50% to 4.25% effective 04/09, just had an email1

Same here. Probably the same applies to Issue 8 which was also 4.50%. I'm another who opened the 4.28% 15-month ISA but haven't funded it. Thinking of moving my Double Access money to it, or least some/most of it. Conveniently 4 September is just a few days before my 28 days (to fund) runs out.intalex said:Paragon Double Access ISA issue 9 lowering from 4.50% to 4.25% effective 04/09, just had an email0 -
Virgin have repeated their 4.16 rate, now issue 675.
Matures September 2026 so just over a year should that appeal to anyone.Fixed rate until 24 September 20264.16%
Yeah, cheers but nah, I will stick with yes, thank you and no.
Thank you.2 -
I've opened this ISA. It has a sort code of 08-60-64. My existing accounts with VM (current/ISA/EA/RS) all have an 82 sort code.savit4l8er said:Virgin have repeated their 4.16 rate, now issue 675.

Does this mean that I will need a separate login account/separate app instance to access this new ISA or will it be available with my existing account logins?0 -
I imagine you're asking the forum rather than just myself but just incase, I wouldn't want it to look like I had ignored you. 🙂flaneurs_lobster said:

Unfortunately, I can't answer as I've only ever had 08 but I suppose if you cannot see it open and it seems to open immediately online, it might be the case. I expect someone with multiple sort codes will be along but maybe this might help.

Indeed it was a general question, but thank-you for your response.I imagine you're asking the forum rather than just myself but just incase, I wouldn't want it to look like I had ignored you. 🙂
It does seem from the link that you posted that the 08- ISA can't be seen alongside 82- accounts. Ho hum.
Why Cash ISAs are issued from different bits of VM is one of life's sweet mysteries.1 -
I opened a fixed-rate ISA last year which has an 08 sort code. Later opened a current account and regular saver which have 82 sort codes. Can't advise on the app as I don't use it, but for online banking via a browser I have separate login details for the two different sort codes. Very annoying.flaneurs_lobster said:
