  • Thanks very much Kazza - very helpful. I think I might work on the presumption that given current market conditions, there isnt going to be a plethora of enourmous rate offers in the coming couple of months and so get the job done now. Will put the call in later!

    Thanks again,

Even though the Halifax Fixed term ISAs are going down you can get the rate you applied for.

My 1 year fixed rate was 6.1% and you'll get this rate or higher when the money comes into the account as long as it's done with 60 days. So my application form says 6.1% and as my money went in before the 60 days I still get 6.1% even though the rate is lower.

The mini Cash ISA limit for 2007/8 will remain as £3,000. For 2008/9 it goes up to £3,600. More info in this article.

Thanks Kazza, I did actually mean 2008/9 - doh!
  • Hi Guys,

Need some advice please! I want to open my first mini-cash isa but I don't have a deposit and I wouldn't be able to put a fixed amount in every month...where is the best place for my money?

    Thanks in advance!

Just a note about the Lloyds Fixed rate cash ISA, is that access is end of term so I guess no touchy touchy for a year, I can't see anything about any clauses for moving from Lloyds, anyone know if they have any 30day/other penaltys ? I guess it's worth waiting a few more week before deciding on anything as the banks are trying to outdo each other :/

    VaVaVoom - Welcome to MSE!

Don't let a lack of a deposit put you off as a lot of mini cash ISAs can now be opened with as little as £1. Most easy access ISAs allow you to add funds to your ISA when you can - though there is no requirement to do so.

    Possible options to consider are:

Egg Cash ISA or Principality eISA both paying 6.05% and operated online. If you don't mind operating your ISA by post, then the Kent Reliance ISA paying 6.05% is another option to consider.

Check out the first post for the links.

A&L have a new Direct ISA from today.
    6.25% variable (includes a 1% bonus until 31/05/09).
Doesnt seem to have any other catches so looks quite competitive.

Well spotted rubybish :j . I was going to open up an isa with icesave, but this seems more attractive. Interest is paid jan 1st which is ok, but would of prefered it to be paid in april. You can withdraw any time...so no penalties!
