Hello all :hello:
DH is considering opening the Icesave ISA mentioned by Martin in the last news letter. As DH has not opened an ISA yet for 2007/08 he thought best to take advantage of this deal.
It says he must open with 1k, which is fine, however as of April 5th will he still be able to make deposits into the 2007/08 ISA until full as well as open up another ISA for 2008/09?
Many thanks

You can only contribute up to the limit in the relevant tax year i.e for a Mini £3000 until midnight 5th April 2008 for 07/08 (or close of business for more practical purposes) You can not carry back contributions to a previous tax year. The new tax year starts on 6th April, any contirbutions on this day and afterwards to 5th April 2009 will be allocated to your allowance for 08/09. ISA's from then will be simply called ISA's (no mini or maxi), the total allowance will be £7200 but the cash element is restricted to maximum of £3600. The difference can only be made up by investing in what the rules stipulated for Maxi (stocks and shares) ISA's
Here is the HMRC help page, note they have n't updated the new allowances.

Went into the Loughborough today to transfer a mickey mouse rate ISA which I hold elsewhere to one of their 6.1% jobs. They told me that they were "reviewing" their rates on March the first. Could this mean that their rate could go up
, methinks the pope has more chance of becoming the next Archbishop of Canterbury.
This may be of interest to anybody else who was contemplating transfering to them.0
