  • ......and I'm looking to pay my travelling expenses [claimed from employer] into a separate savings account to accumulate and grow for my son's university fees in 2 years or so time

I'm looking for an account that you can pay into by BACS transfer and has access available [maybe instant, maybe up to 30 days notice, not sure which].

Are these ISA's easy to set up? Can internet ISA's be set up instantly, or are there forms and things to fill in and return?

    thanks

KRBS will now become 5.76% wef 1st March. Need to transfer out now, think I'll go for a fixed rate.

From experience KRBS are pretty quick at transferring out ISA funds, partly because they dont need to write and ask for a Passbook. ;)
  • Can someone confirm for me. Ive been looking at the variable rate isas. Does that mean the rates can be changed from month to month.??
So what may be on the first post as a star buy now may not be in two months time.???

    thanks

    That's correct.
That's why you have to be ever vigilant.
Some tables will show the most consistent providers, they being the ones who don't go for short term headline grabbing.
  • thanks for quick response.

I have another. the lloyds 1 year fixed! It says 6.5% for £9000 and 5.3% for £6000. Well if you open it with £6000 before april 5th and then put another £3000 in after april 6th. Would it automatically move up to 6.5% bracket or are you stuck with 5.3% rate when you initially opened it??

    Thanks

    It would move up -
6.5% AER/Tax free on balances of £9000 or more
    per LTSB website

You could give them a call to confirm but the rate depends on the balance and as soon as it's over £9K it should go to 6.5% for the remainder of the fixed term.
