Important Message: Due to a family bereavement I will not be on MSE for a while. You may have noticed that I haven't been around very much over the last couple of months, as a very close family member had fallen ill recently.
I'm glad that you've found the first post of this thread useful and I'm sorry that I won't be around to update it for a while. Please use the links in the first post of this thread to use the Moneyfacts and Moneysupermarket.com's ISAs search facilities. I hope to be back at some point. Thank you. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
Kazza, so sorry to hear that, you and those close to you will be in all our thoughts I'm sure.
Don't worry about the thread, I'm sure we can all help you update it when you're back.
Take care,

I happen to think that Leek United are an excellent example of a mutual building society. Both my mother and I have recently transferred ISAs from Britannia BS, their local rival, to the Leek Cash ISA effectively gaining twice as Britannia cut their already poor rate and Leek held theirs.
If only people would realise that the extra approx 0.25% (£7.50 per £3000 investment) you might get now from one of the headline grabbers will certainly drop to base rate later (or lower depending on their guarantee if any), currently a drop of 0.75%. They are obviously hoping that most people will leave the money there.
I have said in a previous post that I expect ISA transfer fees to replace notice periods and those fees, together with delays in transfers, will negate many of the advantages of transferring. Always look in the terms and conditions of your accounts, those organisations such as B&B and A&L which create new issues of accounts can easily do this with possibly differing T&Cs.0 -

.
Sadly it is often the nice, Smaller Building Societies which get snapped up for a pittance by the larger Building Societies.
When i part transferred a ISA into Leek BS, Leeks responses and account opening was instant, with interest automatically backdated so that no loss of interest was incurred. :j
Another point about Leek BS which other Building Societies who read this forum might like to note is that Leek BS pay interest on cheque receipts from the Second Calendar day :T

KRBS still pay interest on cheques from 3rd working day following receipt.

Article in yesterdays Mail On Sunday stated that KRBS Chief Executive gets paid as much as Chelsea BS Chief Executive.

Echoing Crabman's and I'm sure everyone else's sentiments, Kazza, as even to a newbie it's clear you're a stalwart around here and particularly in this thread, but your family must come first always.
Thoughts and best wishes to you and yours...~cottager0 -
Commiserations Kazza, had I have been aware of your circumstances, I would not have p.m.ed you the other day with my request for info. Thank you nevertheless for your reply.
On a more humourous note, I have just received a new passbok from what used to be known as "The Derbyshire" but who know style themselves as "Derbyshire Building Society".
The "How fair is that ?" logo has disappeared in favour of "Local Matters". I hope that this is not a sign of the times ? :rolleyes:0 -
So sorry to hear about your bereavement Kazza. I've not posted much but have been keeping up to date with the thread. My thoughts are with you as are, I'm sure, those of the other regulars on this thread.0
