hi. can someone open an ISA anytime of the year, or one should wait until the new tax year began. if one can open now, would that be considered as the 2007 allocation, and will get another 3k allocation in april/may 2008? thank you in advance.0

Newbie here. I have £3,000 to invest as a lump sum in an ISA initially and wanted to know which was the best with the following criteria:
1) Highest interest rate
2) Money able to be withdrawn without losing tax
3) No Annual limits
I don't really want the hassle of switching in 6 months and it doesnt' even seem that fruitful according to masonic so who do people suggest to use outright for a year?
KRBS have been a consistent high payer for a few years. http://www.krbs.co.uk/directisa.aspx
If u werent wanting access Nationwide 1 and 2 year fixes ( 6.15%) have now become a good deal.0 -

Yes, can open ISA anytime of the year, if you open an ISA this tax year will be considered as your 2007/08 ISA allocation, therefore you can open another ISA on or after 6th April 2008 ( 3600 increased limit for 2008/09 tax year)0 -

Silly question...i want to deposit £3400 in to the nationwide fixed isa for 08/09 tax year. Now then, can i only invest £200 or can i invest £3600 (new tax rules) for the rest of the year?
Meaning i would have £7000 by next year.0 -

The Nationwide fixed rate ISA rate of 6.15% has been available since July, i would be suprised if it was still available in March let alone in April.0 -
Kazza,
FYI - National Counties have reduced their ISA rates - The Guaranteed ISA 07/08 now pays 6.01% and the 2nd Issue ISA now only pays 5.76%.0 -

National Counties have withdrawn the Guaranteed ISA from sale, therefore I've removed it from the list. I've updated the Second Issue ISA rate to 5.76%.
More updates to follow tomorrow. Please call me 'Kazza'.0
