If you ring your local solicitor he/she should do you a certified copy it for about £5, it literally takes a second.
Just applied for the principality one myself, accepted no problems and like the above poster just waiting for my pin.
Cheers to the author of this thread, it's much appreciated!0 -

For my 12/13 Starter ISA 2, I was advised by NBS that I would need to make a branch appointment as I was not an existing customer at that point. A year on, even though I am now an existing customer, the advice from NBS has changed in that I still have to open the account in a branch regardless.
As other non-existing customers were successful opening their accounts by post last year, I have put my form in the post to their head office today and will report back in due course.I came, I saw, I saved.

Re: Poppy Cash ISA, I'm a little surprised that you have to wait for a hard copy application to be posted, signed and have to send a cheque to them.
Would have loved if it was opened completely online.
Shame Santander pulled their 2.5%(?) ISA would have simply continued to bank with them.Tough times never last longer than tough people.0 -

It's a building society not a bank, so their systems are probably unable to handle/process the demand, thus they triage applications this way.
I sent mine off yesterday with a cheque & got home to welcome pack (I had printer issues when I opened on Friday, so printed to ms xps printer & saved it so I could print later for quicker than waiting for their welcome pack)TARGET Deposit for my 1st house!:A NEED£30k:eek: WANT£45k GOT 1stDRegSaver:£1200@ 6% GROSS 1/10/15||SantanderISA:£11,820.41 @ 2.30% 16/04/16| Newcastle BS ISA:£15,149.80 @ 3.02%|Santander123 Cashback earnings: £274.48|TotalCashSavings:£32,302|Last Update:22/2/15:T

Thanks for this. Having phoned the Principality, they will accept my coding notice as proof of name so, together with a couple of bills, I don't have to send anything valuable. I will definitely remember this though as well as that Post Office service which I had no idea about.Sealed Pot Challenge #239

There should be a way to multiple "thank you" for your hard work in keeping this thread updated.
I've used it every year since you started it in 2007 and have found it invaluable in finding the best and most appropriate accounts for mine and Mrs W's ISA money. So thanks once again.
Rates this year are truly pathetic but most of our money is in fixed rates of 4%+ from previous years, thanks to your helpful thread.0 -

I had to check with my local post office whom advised the smaller sub post offices don't have a postmaster/mistress or a sub postmaster/mistress only they are allowed to do this & they are only at main post offices (I don't have any near me any more)
I also think it's odd that one can open a current account online with a cheque book, overdraft & debit card all arriving along with a welcome pack within 7 days with NO PROOF OF ID requested or provided but to open a ISA savings Account even with your NI Number still requires ID! Form returned in post today with a pre-paid envelope and a note to say if I send a cheque as an initial deposit with the form they will open the account and I can set up a standing order thereafter.I came, I saw, I saved.
