Form returned in post today with a pre-paid envelope and a note to say if I send a cheque as an initial deposit with the form they will open the account and I can set up a standing order thereafter.

Here's hoping then as I sent a cheque with my application.:)

Here are a few Credit Union ISA offerings, and one for the Police. They are generally strictly for members (fee-paying, usually) but perhaps some of you are lucky enough.

This list isn't comprehensive, and there must be others still. Find your nearest credit Union: http://findyourcreditunion.co.uk/home

I am an existing Nottingham customer (although not local )

I posted an application form for the starter ISA 3, to a branch, with a cheque on Monday 8th and the passbook arrived Wednesday 10th.:)

Received my Nottingham BS Savings Passbook today (4% Regular Saver ISA) credited with the first payment.

So for 3 of us (that I can remember) the postal app this year appears to have worked.

As i said earlier it does not actually state it is In Branch only, it alludes to that but just download the application and tick the box that says you don't need advice and have made your own mind up, enclose cheque and you're good to go.

    Cheers

    Quoting their website:
    "Are these offers permanent?

No, the offer of 4% is subject to change due to demand. We are anticipating a very high demand and as such cannot guarantee the rate will still be offered for new customers after the 1st of May 2013."

Was advised that with the fixed-term ISA account, you do not need to pay £5 in to a normal account for membership purposes. If that actually matters to anyone or not?

Where are you guys getting your application form from to send with the cheque?

  • What's the general feeling about the current accounts being offered that accept transfers in? Are any better deals likely to appear soon or is this the best we can expect? The options are really, really poor at the moment.

As it stands I think I'm going to stick my money in a 1-year fixed Aldermore ISA (2.25%) purely because I already have an ISA with them and it'll save the hassle of transferring. Ideally I'd rather have an easy access account but the options are so limited it's really not worth my while for an extra 0.05%
