Oh, another tip! Measure yourself. Muscle weighs more than fat, but can take up less space. So measure your waist now, and see if that decreases. You don't see the difference in your waist measurement as quickly as you do with your weight, but it IS a good health indicator. I've lost a couple of inches off my waist over the last 9 months, and I know it's not just that the elastic is going in all my trousers!
I did want to tell the gym that the scales werent right, but they probably think that all fat people say that, hehe!!! Well not fat, but you know what I mean :0)
Im going to measure myself tonight, I carry most of my weight around my middle (not good healthwise) so it will be good to see if ive lost/will lose any inches. Its just because I have SOOOOO much weight to lose, that I do need to lose it aswell as losing inches. We shall see, we shall see.
Thanks for your advice. I shall try not to be disheartened :0)

Darn! Well done and happy belated birthday for the 11th jenpoptab
Glad you made the most of it and enjoyed yourself.
Hey blue-kat, nice weight lossI didn't manage to make it swimming as something else came up which meant boyfriend spending 9 odd hours on the computer sorting out some work stuff. But I am back to work tomorrow and have decided that instead of using the lift to go up to the second floo in the mornings when I arrive, I'm going to walk (very slowly) up the stairs instead! I am sure that it will help burn off some of these stubborn pounds which just don't want to be nice and go away.
wow Tulip good going! No one is invading the thread, anyone is welcome on here so please make yourself comfy. I don't have a nibble problem it is more of a knowing when to stop problem I think. I already have tea without sweetener in it and don't drink tea very often, I tend to stick with water as it quenches my thirst more. Walking... now I do have a step machine at home - no nothing fancy just one of the things that Argos sold which is two footpads and some sort of resistance setting thingy- but it would be good to get the blood pumping a bit and the advantage is that if I have enough I don't have to still get back home just step off the machine ;D
Sue, how was the porridge bread you mentioned you were making a few days ago? Sounds like a weird flavour for bread but then I'm not the very adventurous type when it comes to my loaf!
bargainqueen, don't feel down about it. If it was easy to lose weight then we'd all be little stick insects ;D I lost a good 3 stone last year then when Decemeber came around I changed jobs and gave in to Christmas excess and put 2 stone of it back on. Since then I had been losing a bit then putting that bit back on again so not really getting anywhere fast! I bit the bullet and joined a diet club as that was the only way I thought I could keep myself going. Have been going for 5 weeks now and have lost a total of 10 lbs so am quite happy with being back on track again. I don't know about you but it feels like I have purpose again when I have my dieting head back on. If you are worried that your stomach has stretched with larger portions then perhaps you could eat lots of veggies on your plate to make up the bulk but without the calories? Good luck with whatever you chose to do
ms_london, good luck with your goal! I am so jealous of you having the will power to go to the gym so often. I really have to try to get to my gym as they are happily taking my membership money whether I visit them or not. Do you have a gym buddy? I often think I'd be more inspired to go if I had someone to go with, but the gym I am at (near work) isn't the cheapest and the people I work with all have gym memberships where they live so they don't want/need another one.
Chin up everyone and lets see what we can do this week!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -

If it's got to be something sweet - and sorry, but breakfast cereal is generally disastrously sweet! - dried fruit, BUT that can be quite high in sugar. Or fresh fruit! Maybe if you sat down and peeled and cored an apple or pear or something that would both occupy the hands and the mouth?
I have filled the house with fruit and try to eat a piece of that instead of a biscuit when the munchies strike. That is OK until I go into the kitchen, where the cupboards have biscuits and jaffa cakes in. For some reason my son's not eating jaffa cakes, which is good because no-one's opened the new box yet and I won't. Also we have no chocolate biscuits open, so the boring digestives will probably last a week, instead of the 1-2 days that choccy biccies usually last.
Actually today I feel quite stuffed and have not had the munchies, which is good. Maybe my body is adapting to the steroids, or maybe I just pigged out at lunchtime? No I don't think it's that, I wasn't ravenous all morning either. Maybe it's the green tea? I did have lots of veg at lunch, and soup leftover from yesterday for tea, a very veggie home made soup and there's still some left for tomorrow! Getting used to the steroids, and hopefully will be off them by the end of the week!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Ally, going back to the breakfast cereal. If you can't completely wean yourself onto celery and carrot sticks, then at least get yourself a SMALL bowl for the cereal. Maybe even a baby cup!
Also I know the only reason I didn't balloon into a whale while the kids were very small was that I didn't want them to eat too many biscuits, so I limited my nibbles because if they saw me eating they would want to eat as well.
Hopeless once I was back at work and out of their sight!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Of the 2.75" I lost last week, half an inch was off my waist, half an inch was off each thigh, half an inch was off my right knee, half an inch was off my right arm, and the rest was off my left arm.
I agree, it's great to measure yourself as even if you don't see the pounds shift, you may still see the inches shift, and centimetres shift a whole lot quicker than inches.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -

Hi VelvetGlove.
Thanks for the message. Really, Ive surpised myself that ive kept to the gym & am actually enjoying it. Ive always said the same thing and been envious of people with determination and willpower, never thought I had any, but it seems ive proved myself wrong. And ive been going 3 mornings a week at 7am, not like me at all :0) If I can do it, you can!!
My two flatmates are members at the gym too, so that does help, although we go at different times & do different classes, it definately keeps you motivated.
Ive only 2 weeks and 4 days til my holiday, am getting scared now - eeeeeek!!!!
Annoying too as I was out on Saturday night and a random pig of a man just called me fat because he gave me the eye and i wasnt interested. Annoying when ive been working so hard, it makes me laugh that he said it though, how can people be so blatantly cruel!!! Grrrrr!!!
Good luck everyone.

Although it was depressing enough to realise I was supposed to lose 12" - a whole ruler! - off my waist, if it had been 30 cm I don't know what I would have done. However, if I aim to lose 12" and do it by the centimetre, that would be good!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
right, hate celerey, so will go with carrots! Already using a small bowl but having as many bowls a day as i used to have ciggies
almost out of cereal, so will go for some fibery cereal instead of cheerios and crunchy nut ... which i lurve
had a bowl of bananas for breakie and still don't feel hungry yet, but will have a snack so i don't feel really really hungry later .... started to chew gum, but it makes me feel empty inside
gonna do a home shop ... stop me going out and buying some cigs .... avoid tempting situations an all etc etc  will chase the kids and erm hopefully knacker them out ... we all know that is so not going to happen  they will wear me out!
thanks for tips hun!I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0
