hope the steroids are helping?
I wonder if low GI foods such as porridge, pulses, protein + complex carbs might help with the increased appetite?
hope you're feeling as well as poss.
Well, the steroids are definitely helping, and the weight is back to "3lb will jump on and off the scales with you in a random way each week" so I feel my priorities have to be
a) preventing my head exploding! = must take steroids
b) keeping my weight down = 1. must stay away from the biscuits which is OK as long as I don't go near the kitchen - the fruit is in the dining room. Trouble is as I begin to feel more human I feel I have to start helping with the cooking again, apart from anything else if I don't the boys will just cook fish fingers and chips. Whereas today, because my brother came bearing veg from his garden earlier this week, we have had a massive baked marrow dish, and on Tuesday we ate a huge pile of Chard, and I still have Chard and runner beans left. But if I don't cook them, they won't! 2. Must get out for a little walk every day, except that yesterday I made it a longer walk and am now too tired to want to do it today as my head is exploding a bit (so I'm just off back to bed for another hour!)
c) keeping my BP down = least of my worries really, it will stay down on the medication, and it will stay down if I get the weight off and keep it off and keep exercising etc.
I do like porridge, but I can't face it in summer. So have bought some nice very fruity muesli. But I can't always face that either: if I've overdone it on the fruit the day before I think about my rear end and go "No, not this morning, cinnamon grahams for me!"
Have just stuck porridge bread into the bread machine to see how that turns out!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sorry I've not been on here in a while. I gave up on the diet front for a while as there were too many other thngs going on. Anyway, I started again last week with an e-diet-buddy, and I'm starting off by trying to stick to just 3 meals a day plus 1 snack. When I've re-educated my body to start accepting that, then I'll try replacing certain aspects.
This week I've lost 2lb and 2.75 inches. And to kick off my "replacing", I've bought Diet Vanilla Coke rather than full fat pop to take in my sandwich box.
I'm sorry you've not been well, Savvy_Sue. I hope they have things under control with the steroids and that you start to see an improvement soon.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0 -

And you lost 2.75 inches in a week? Not all from one place, surely?
Wno said they were giving up smoking? There's an old thread down in Discussion Time which might be useful: Smoke-free WannabeeSignature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi, I keep popping in and reading but so far I have been too nervous to fully join. I am so useless at keeping weight off, last year I lost 3.5 stone and since Jan I think i have put at least half of that on again
I just seem to get to a size I can accept and then all my motivation goes. And at the moment I can't even get the motivation up to try and eat less. My portions are HUGE! I think my stomach is probably stretched to breaking point
Where do I start??????
BTW there's an ongoing giving up smoking thread in the arms http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=38742
so that might be worth visiting for those who want to quit, too.
I am impressed by your success!!! BQThree years, six months, three weeks, 13 hours, 48 minutes and 30 seconds. 26011 cigarettes not smoked, saving $11,704.80. Life saved: 12 weeks, 6 days, 7 hours, 35 minutes.0 -
Well I treated myself yesterday, god knows what I'll weigh next week, I enjoyed myself though, best meal I've had out in long time and the two terrors were really well behaved as well. So even if I've put on next week I'll be ok with it as had such a good day.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030

You have done so well with the smoking, you know you can do it with the weight as well. For one thing, if you buy less food, you'll save mor emoney!
As for portion size, you can go either way. Either reduce by a little bit at a time, or go for bust and halve it. If you usually have 2 rounds of sandwiches, try 1. When you usually grab four biscuits, go for two. When you're cooking a meal, WEIGH the portions of pasta etc. If you haven't cooked it you won't eat it!
GTG, see if that helps!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Im 5ft 11, and weigh just under 13 stone. I would like to get down to 10 stone ideally, but 11 stone will probably be ok too.
I have a holiday booked, I go in 3 weeks (today actually!!). So for the past 3 weeks I have been going to the gym 4/5 times a week, 2 x 1 hour of Bodypump, and 2/3 x 1 hour of cardio.
The annoying thing is, last weekend on my parents scales I was down to 12 1/2 stone, the gym scales this morning say im at 13 stone (they havent changed since ive been using them!!). Grrrrrrr!! I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but since im mixing it with cardio I thought this was the way to do it. Im also eating healthier and have had no junk food.
I think I will start religiously writing my points down (weightwatchers), just in case I have been overeating (I doubt it though). I just want the weight to shift!! Ive been working my bum off (literally) at the gym so deserve it :0)
Any advice or tips?
Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!

Oh, another tip! Measure yourself. Muscle weighs more than fat, but can take up less space. So measure your waist now, and see if that decreases. You don't see the difference in your waist measurement as quickly as you do with your weight, but it IS a good health indicator. I've lost a couple of inches off my waist over the last 9 months, and I know it's not just that the elastic is going in all my trousers!Signature removed for peace of mind0
