Welcome back Sue! I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing. It's great to hear that your op is done and you are back home and recovering. Scary to hear about what steroids can do to your appetite, I can understand why you freaked out. Do you think eating more carbs might help? Could fill you up for longer and maybe stem the ravenous appetite? I know when I have hungry days that pasta, rice and bananas (not together on the same plate! ;D ) help to keep me away from tasty high fat nibbles, but I haven't ever been on steroids so can't give you proof positive that it would work for you. But it is great to see you back again :)

Oh Miroslav :( What a horrible experience you had at the wedding! I know from bitter experience the defence mechanism you employ of putting yourself down before others can do it for you or to pretend that a spiteful comment didn't hurt your feelings. I have to admit though that once someone caught me on the wrong day and said something along the same lines as you had and without thinking I said to them that they had really hurt my feelings and I didn't need the obvious pointed out to me on such a regular basis. They were quite stunned as before I had always laughed along with them laughing at me. This person is now very supportive of my deiting efforts and I think my retaliation made them realise just how nasty their comments had been. Don't give up though pet, as you can lose weight - it will be harder for them to become a nicer person!

Also diet food doesn't have to be boring salads and fruit all the time. If you follow a particular diet regime you can really spice up your life and your food! I am over the moon that the diet I'm following I can still lose weight without a single lettuce leaf passing my lips, although I do chose to add a little bit of salad in here and there as I now find it quite tasty and refreshing (as long as I don't have to eat it all the time!) I was definitely not one of natures rabbits who enjoys plates of leafy green stuff  I unfortunately love all the things that are only ok in moderation - trouble is that I have trouble with that 'moderation' word! Stick with it hun, we'll support you on here and you can unload your worries and frustrations with us. We won't judge you or make fun of you as we are all in this together! *hugs*

blue-kat I was looking at the Paul McKenna cds on Amazon the other dayon a link from one of their newsletters and was mighty tempted to get one to see if he could help bolster my will power - how have you found them? You say it has helped you get back on track, do you have to listen each day or once a week? I'd be really grateful of any info you could give me :) Will help me to decide whether to buy a set for myself!

I'm going to really enjoy my lunch today! I've got Slimming World syn free chips, mushy peas and a fried egg for lunch (yeps it's a green day!) and diet club tonight so I'll be back later to dish the dirt on if / how much weight I lost this week.

:grouphug: - This group hug goes out to everyone on here posting or lurking as we all deserve a bit of cuddle therapy once in a while.
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

    Thanks Velvet_Glove!

That aside, I half enjoyed the wedding and the couple of days. It was coming home that annoyed me more! Stupid flatmate is annoying me with everything she says and does at the moment. Her years of selfishness and lazyness always come to the fore after I have been away as I realise how i've been too soft on her with letting her get away with things etc. I can no longer speak and get a response unless it affects her in anyway, so I'm frustrated in many areas.

I need to get more structure to the 'diet'. It is an issue, as my flatmate, who herself has lost weight and wants to lose more, doesn't like the fact I am trying too. I'm not sure why, but she's always trying to get me to buy pies and burgers. I think she's enjoyed losing her weight and living with me helps her feel slimmer maybe  plus she wants ALL the attention!

Moderation is difficult. And I'm glad it doesn't have to be all Salad, eurgh!!! Trusty 1980's Exercise Bike to the rescue!!!

I even missed an appointment this morning that was very important! Stress!!!!!!! Arggggggggghhhhhhhhh!

    Hi VelvetGlove

I've got the CD that comes free with the new Paul McK book 'I can make you slim'. I know it sounds cringeworthy;) In fact I wouldn't have bought it myself, but a friend sent it to me as a gift....and I finally I got around to reading and listening and it's certainly helped me get back on track. I've lost 8lbs in last 4 weeks :)

I'd been wobbling for about 6 months, messing around with the same few pounds on and off. But finally I've got back into the swing of it, not by willpower by lying on my back with headphones in for mind programming !

I listen as and when, say couple of times a week. I find it very relaxing and usually nod off, but apparently it still works sublimanally!

Don't mean to sound like an advert but it's certainly helped me bust out of the diet doldrums, but might not suit everyone. No one size fits all

I don't know how much the content of the CD varies to the Easy Weight Loss CD
or the even older 4 CD set for sale on QVC? and ebay.

Miroslav, perhaps your flat mate gets an almighty feeling of smugness and self satisfaction/holier-than-though feeling when she persuades you to buy stodge and declines it herself. I had a work colleague like that and her nose was truly put out of joint when I started to diet and kept to the stuff I should have been eating! I think you may be right about her wanting the praise and attention but I'm sure there would be enough to go around you both, it's a real shame that she isn't happy for you as together you would both be stronger than alone in this. Then again, at least you have us ;):)

Thanks for the info blue-kat, I'll be putting the cd's on my Christmas list and see what Santa brings along :) (Someone scared me silly at club tonight by saying that Christmas is only 18 weeks away!! so adding them to my list doesn't sound so silly when you think of it that way).

This week I stayed the same, which is a little disappointing but seeing as how I have spent the last 7 days just sitting on my bum on the sofa, I think it was a good result. Making plans though to take the boyfriend swimming so I get a little exercise, will see how it goes this week :)

Ohh password for this week is 'jelly' - have fun this week folks and I hope your trip to the scales is better than mine was!

Quite possibly right, she wants to be slimmer and by walking around with someone bigger, makes her feel slimmer.

The unfortunate thing is, she's a major attention seeker, she talks about herself and her interests 24/7 and thinks that's okay.

Swimming is good exercise, if you feel comfortable to do it :)

sorry on your STS* result Velvet G, but it's lot better than a gain and at least you've got a good idea why.

hope you have a super loss next week, bet the swimming will help.

    *STS = stay the same

    how's it going Savvy Sue?
    hope the steroids are helping?
I wonder if low GI foods such as porridge, pulses, protein + complex carbs might help with the increased appetite?
hope you're feeling as well as poss.
