Oh well done Ally! You know I am full of admiration for people who give up the evil weed, know from my chocolate addiction that if I'd ever started smoking I'd not be able to do it! And losing weight with it too, brilliant!
Now, down in discussion time there was a long-ish thread about giving up smoking, it may not be on the first page any more but if you wanted any more ideas and/or moral support I'm sure it would be worth a look!
All the best!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Miroslav wrote:I went to my sisters wedding this week and was told I looked fat
The wedding photos make me look like Chris Moyles and I thought i'd done well losing 4lbs lately and got so depressed, I stuffed myself.
It didn't help when, I, the last heterosexual 'child' from the family not to be married, was kept being told "you'll be next" and me thinking "I'm too fat to get married"
So, I've got to re-motivate myself again.
So tomorrow, back to fruit and boring foods :rotfl:
WE still love you the way you are, and will be very happy if you lose a bit more weight for yourself! Not just to make your family happy. Not just to get married. For yourself!
And it was only one day's stuffing! Maybe the damage won't be so bad.
I know you weren't working earlier this year - are you back yet? If not can you get out walking while it's not raining? And think of healthy food which isn't boring? Hard I know, I'm still working myself up to preparing a box of carrot and celery sticks to make a change from fruit ...
Better go and shower and weigh myself while I'm still trying to be positive ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Savvy_Sue wrote:Oh Miroslav that is so unkind! Why do people have to say we look fat? How does that help anyone? (I just say quietly to my DH "Please tell me if my bum ever looks as big as hers", but I'm not sure he would!)

I want to do it for myself more than anyone else, it's just the comments don't help and I just poke fun at myself to make them think i'm not bothered.
Not back to work yet, it was decided to wait until after my medical examination (got Questionnaire now, to be returned by 24th August) and if I pass, to stay off work for time being as a return would have a negative effect, although I'd like to return in some ways.
I walk a fair bit and I got a very old Exercise Bike from my step dads cellar he was throwing out. It works so as I watch TV, away I pedal
Vegetarian food is better than meat right? Cos I'm eating some veggie food right now. I'm not veggie but some of it is nice and i'm wanting to cut the meat intake.
Thanks Savvy_Sue :A0 -

Hi Miroslav
can't believe the unhelpful comments, don't let them put you off.
re: veggie food
not all veggie food is better for diet, guess it depends what diet you are doing?
eating more veggies and pulses has got to be good for weight loss in general but important to what out for fat content and go easy on the cheese. Some ready mades ( Linda Mc C burgers?) are fattier + more cals than meat burgers.
Hope you can find some more interesting recipes

Hi blue-kat
The diet i'm on is erm.....eat less, try and eat fruit and veg and less meat and erm.....hope and pray. Their is no real structure, but have just got an excercise bike for free, albeit very old.
Will pay close attention to my fat content on what I buy from Tesco later0 -
Hi again Miroslav
like the sound of your diet - very unfaddy !
I'm not following any particular plan, just doing my thing, healthy eating some GI awareness, no wheat (allergy).... and it seems to be working, 5.5 stones lost :j. Hoping to keeping going and shift some more.
Last few weeks I've been listening to McKenna 'I can make you slim' cd and it's def helped me get back on track.
hope the exercise bike helps !

No, the GP just sort of shrugged when I said I had got my appetite back and was ravenously hungry as soon as I went on steroids - it really was dramatic, I'd spent 4 days in hospital, no food on one, tiny tiny bit on the next, and then 3 very small meals the next two. Barely touched all the nibbles I'd take in. Then I came home, and was still not really hungry for a few days. Then my head started flaring up until I started throwing up so that put paid to food another day. Then I went on steroids and BANG, my appetite was back not just to pre-hospital standard but 'before I tried to cut down and lose weight' days! Scary!
Anyway, I am now trying not to eat huge portions at meals, but back to my pre-hospital servings. And trying not to snack on anything but fruit. Which all gets a bit interesting because of course some of the drugs I'm on tend to give you diarrhoea!
The good news is that I'm obviously back to "3 lb on and off at random" mode as well, because what I reckon I gained since steroids had gone again this morning, so try not to panic, keep calm, accept that I've got to take the steroids a bit longer or risk blowing my head apart again. Of course maybe I could do a bit less on the computer ... nah, I'd only get bored!
Thanks for the steroid link, that was very helpful.Signature removed for peace of mind0
