wow that's fantastic Maggiesoup ! IMPRESSIVE !
becoming more active is really life changing, and great thing to do with the kids, an investment for them too.0 -
blue-kat, thank you & well done for being healthy as well.I've been bad this week, pizza & chinese but they have been rectified by healthy eating the rest of the time. Probably will stay same weight this week, but nevermind.
Crunchy chickpeas are good, I may do more later.
I'm just having porridge & honey for breakfast, not sure what to have for lunch, but dinner will be chilli made with bulgar wheat, quorn mince, sweetcorn, kidney beans, cayenne pepper (as I've run out of chilli powder!) & a dolmio as i'm rubbish at own tomato sauce. This is dead filling and low in fat but full of flavour.
Falafel recipe, I think I found the link somewhere on MSE and it took me to a Ainsley harriot recipe, so must have been on BBC website. I adapted it by ovening cooking rather than frying.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
Hi jenpoptab, how do you make the crunchy chick peas? they sound scrummy! Are they healthy then??
I've decided we need to eat more veg but my other half isnt too keen on veg on its own so i'm going to have to incorporate it into a meal, am just about to look on the sainsburys website for inspiration as that is always good for recipes!
Not sure how much I weigh at the mo, not brave enough to go to WW after several lapses (has been the time of the month and like you said blue-kat i so couldnt face being too healthy!) but will try and pick up again today!!keep going everyone!!

Hi Rachie,
the crunchy chickpeas are from GI diet book, 2 large cans on chickpeas washed and drained, 2tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 1/2tsp salt, pinch of cayenne, mix altogether, lay on large baking sheet in single layer, bake at 200 c/ gas 6, shaking occassionally, for 45 mins, leave to cool.
I feel like I could really let the diet go today, 2 screaming babies, 1 who has told me to shut up & she is only 2 aaagh!!!!!!!! the other refusing to sleep and she is only 3mths old, no wonder hubby doesn't want more kids. Anyway I'm determined that they are not going to ruin diet so I will make some cruchy chickpeas to snack on.
Good luck with getting back on the bandwagon, I'm sure you will do just fine.
I know what you mean about veggies though. Believe it or not I ate no veg until I was 18 and only since I turned veggie nearly 3 years ago have I eaten veg in the amounts that i now do. I've had salad all week with meals apart from yesterday and thats only because i have made myself, but I have enjoyed it as i have loads of red cabbage, spring onions & carrot within it which I think tastes really nice.WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030 -
can you send me some crunchy chick peas over via email? Do you think that will work??
Going to pop to tesco later so may well get a new can of chick peas and give it a whirl! I made a hotpot yesterday with lots of beans and stuff so that used up my last can of chick peas only yesterday!
Your house sounds like mine I have two pickles of babies although the biggest one is just over 18 months and the littlest one is 7 months! they keep you busy dont they although for some bizaree reason mine are being relatively sweet today....?? My little boy (the eldest) has just found a random jelly baby in his toy box and decided to eat it - mmmm, how lovely
I'm supposed to be at work today but not been well so didnt go in today (have been signed off by the doc as i have vertigo at the mo) so i'm having a bit of a lazy day today!Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
Rachie, I'm sorry to hear you are not well.
Didn't make any chickpeas as just had to get out of house, too much whinging (& that was just from me, he he).
Have been relatively good but I had 1 piece of choc. Gorgeous chilli for tea, so delicious I have leftovers for tomorrow, I made double portion as I knew I'd enjoy it!
Hotpot sounds good, may try that myself, do you just shove loads of different beans in?
Have you been brave enough to weigh yet.

The hotpot i made constisted of the following:
A tin of chopped tomatoes
A tin of 'healthy living' tuscan bean soup
A tin of chick peas
A tin of baked beans
A tin of kidney beans
A tin of Ratatouille
Some left over fresh veg
Chilli powder
Half packet of quorn
It was so easy to do it was daft but seeing as its mostly tinned stuff i'm not sure how nutritious it would be! lol! Last night I made the chick peas and my friends & partner on the most part loved them but afterwards when they asked what they were they kind of looked at me like I was a little barmy! hee hee!!) My OH has given me loads of ideas for variations, think he quite liked em!
I made risotto last night with some fresh steamed veg and by the time it was ready i wasn't hungry enough to eat it & friends had turned up for a drink so will have it for lunch today I think. Am currently sipping strong black coffee (with sweetener instead of sugar - yuck!) and munching crunchy chick peas! mmmm!!
Not been brave enough to go to weigh in yet, next one is Thursday nite so if i'm brave enough and have the money then I may go, if not I may just buy a decent set of scales and use the motivation I get from you guys on here....
Anyone else got any yummy low fat recipies to share??Official DFW Nerd 2100 -
Thanks rachie , i will give that a go at some time. Currently making marshmallows with 2yr old, nightmare (not her, the process!), glad you liked chickpeas.
