    Hello VixxAnn :)
And hello from me too. Sorry I know nothing about hypnosis and personally wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, but then I'm probably a control freak ...

My mantra is: Eat Less, Move More. Move More, Eat Less. Only I get stuck on this chair, in front of this screen, and my limbs seize up ... :o

hi starry eyed and savvy sue

the hypnosis thing has come about in a strange way but now I cannot stop thinking about it - going to try a lose weight hypnosis CD though rather than go and see someone. Got to be worth a try! (I've tried pretty much everything else!)

I know the basics are input less calories and do more exercise but I get stuck on the food side as it just seems to fly into my mouth before I have a say:o

oh well - I'll go and have a slimfast bar for breakfast!

I have just registered with the SW website .... thanks for the password BTW ;)

It is brilliant ... keeping track for you and reminding you when to weigh in!

Bad news is, I have put on 2lbs since I said I was starting again:rolleyes: Good news is, I'm not letting it get me down, because I WILL get rid of the little weigh-me-down-buggers :D

Welcome again to all our new members :T
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

Elona, thanks for this info! It may not sound like a lot more food but having four healthy extras is very helpful to add interest and variety and will help keep my paws out of the cookie jar.

VixxAnn - you made it here! You do an impressive amount of exercise. Keep at it, it really does make a fabulous difference to your shape and posture. Your hubbie is going to be so proud of the super-sexy you at his birthday.

I went for a brisk walk tonight and got stuck in a really heavy and icy shower...came home absolutely soaked through. I'll give the gym some consideration, I just need a visit from the cash fairy first though :D .

I got weighed last night and maintained
BUT it has given me a wake up call and I have decided to keep a food diary and note down everything I eat and drink
    - to go back to the book and look things up properly
    - to get back to using a pedometer and go for a walk more often (I blame MSE!)
    - to stop thinking that "Oh that will be ok!" when I substitute white bread for wholemeal etc.

I went out and bought rvvita and a small wholemeal loaf and weetabix
    so I have no excuse

Homemade soup is in slow cooker
I cooked chicken in it last night

I will look up sin free chips and consider doing sin free crisps as well if I get really tempted

I have done this before and I can do it again - I know it works if I do not sabotage myself.

If anyone wants any ideas feel free to p.m.me. :)

    Hi Elona

At least you didn't put on! OK I know it's always better and more motivating to lose week after week...but it sounds like a nudge to get any little habits sorted out and you are responding positively to it. A food diary is an excellent idea as it really does make you think about what you're putting in your mouth and in turn onto your hips ;) .

I agree with you about MSE being a hindrance to more exercise...how do people tear themselves away?!

Great news, my job starts on Monday...the references were slow coming back but after a few phone calls yesterday it's been sorted now. I have to get organised with packed lunches and do some leftovers planning. I'm also going to try and become "the woman with the fruit bowl on her desk" as suggested earlier in this thread. I've always drifted into the trap of buying sandwiches, crisps and chocolate before - not MSE sympathetic at all and most definitely not helpful to my health & weight. Things have got to change!

Wow this week went really fast! Sorry guys, I was really going to try to get on here during the week but have been working really long days and not getting in until around 7 or 8pm and then after eating I have been falling into bed shattered! I actually start training people from Monday so am expecting a nervous stomach and (hopefully) reduced appetite, which could really help kick some weight off when coupled with the daily adrenaline rush of getting up in front of 12 people and training them for 5 weeks! I've been training for 6 odd years, so it isn't the training that fills me with jitters, being with a new company now with new and really in depth complex material is the scary part! I'm sure I'll settle in after the first few weeks :)

I lost 1 pound this week so looks like I am back on the right track again.

Jaffa, well done on your weight loss this week. A half pound in the right direction is better than nothing at all and really is quite heavy if you put something on the scales to see exactly how heavy it is!

VixxAnn - welcome to the little corner of MSE devoted to shifting those annoying pounds, hopefully without losing the hard earned ones! You were asking about hypnosis on the previous page and I have tried it before. Mum was depserate to help me so paid for a visit to a guy who does hypnosis to help all sorts of problems like being overweight, smoking, fears of things etc. I remember that mum waited in another room while I laid on a sofa - don't worry it was all quite proper, I was a bit worried about being in a possibly compromising situation as I've seen the Paul McKenna show and how he can get people to believe all sorts of stuff... well it wasn't like that at all. He described it to me as just lodging an idea into my conscious and subconscious mind so I would find it easier to eat healthy foods and feel full. I didn't get put into a trance or anything, all he did was assume a kind of droning voice and laying down with my eyes closed it was just peaceful listening to his voice. At one point he forgot he was doing dieting and slipped into smoking, stopped himself said sorry and carried on, but the effect it had on me was quite bizarre. My head felt like it had suddenly shrunk then gained full size and I was kind of awake again until the droning settled me back into the restful state. He planted the seeds that I would not enjoy eating standing up, would need to sit down properly whenever I ate and that healthier foods like veggies and salads would be more appealing to me.

The burning question (did it work) well yes it did, until my rushing around lifestyle broke through the 'sit down to eat' conditioning and then it all started to fall away quite quickly. It worked well enough for me to lose a couple of stone, I sometimes wonder now how well it would have continued if I had backed up the conditioning with a tape to 'top it up' every so often and also not pushed through the sitting down to eat part. Hope that gives you an idea of what happens, well what happened to me at any rate! Good luck with trying the cd, I hope it works for you - can you let us know how it goes?

Scarlet, I believe the password changes once a week, I think the day it changes depends on which area you are in (ie, what day your local group meets), but can't be totally sure as sometimes the password has lasted a day or so longer than I thought it would.

Hey Linda, *hugs* don't feel down about the slight gain. I found that happened to me when I had a cold. Not sure if it was because I wasn't eating enough food due to lack of appetite or if the Night Nurse / Lemsips / cold relief capsules I was taking were loaded with diet-sabotaging naughties! At least you aren't letting it beat you down! Stick with it and you'll be losing again next week.

elona, *hugs* at least you didn't gain anything back on, maintaining can be a very useful wake up or a way for the body to let us know it is getting used to the missing fat before it will let you carry on losing again. It sounds like you have a great idea there with the food diary though. I know I was losing more weight and feeling better when I kept a note of exactly what was passing my lips each day! I'll join you with that diary and note down what I eat, that way if I have a really great week I can maybe repeat the food I ate if I get stuck a little further along the line :)

Snowy Owl, that is great news about your job on Monday! I'll spare you a thought on Monday and send some good vibes your way, I'm sure you'll love it. 2 or 3 of the girls in the office are joining me on my diet from Monday which means a lot less chocolates and naughties will be in the office thank goodness! I can see on the news next week there will be a main story about the increase in the amount of fruit consumed at work contributing to better health and less office chair breakage :D My purse has actualy faired much better since starting on the diet, when I expected to be spending out more. No take aways and crisps and chocolates saves quite a lot of money. Also my weekly shop is only around £12 max now with all the salad veg and pasta etc. I nearly fell over backwards when I started the diet and the cashier told me how little I had spent! Definite win win situation! I am losing the bad kind of pounds whilst keeping hold of the good kind.

I'll try to pop in again in the week so it isn't such a huge post next time but will have to see how next week goes. In the meantime, keep it up ladies and gentlemen as together we can beat the fat fairy and not be so hot and flustered in the lovely Summer I am sure we will be having! :) (Isn't this weekend glorious!!)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

    Hi all,

Thought it was about time I posted again ... been a little busy the past couple of weeks.

Congratulations to those of you who have managed to lose recently and, to those of you who've stayed the same or put on a pound or two, don't get disheartened, if you've got the will to lose weight (and that really is all of usicon7.gif), it WILL happen. If it takes a while, so what ... we're looking at long-term weight loss here and that means a gradual process and quite possibly a few "dips" along the way.

I'm managing to maintain a loss of 1/2lb to 1lb a week at the moment. It seems like nothing but, looking back to the beginning of Jan., I've lost 12lbs, so that can't be bad. Another 7lbs to go before I'm in the "normal" range, and I'll be quite happy with that, so aiming to achieve this by the end of May.

Thanks to elona and others who are posting the SW weekly password ... a great help.

VelvetGlove ... thanks for the continuing words of encouragement to everyone, you're a star.icon7.gif
