    Hi all

I've been dieting for years and I am still fat! Thankfully not as fat as I used to be. At my heaviest I was 17 stone 9 pounds. I now weigh 13 stone 10 pounds. I pay £4.95 per week to go to a well known slimming club to be told I'm still fat! ha! ha!
But on a serious note dieting has actually helped me save money. Here are some examples:

I walk to town on Saturday mornings, takes 1 hour there and back, saving petrol.
I don't take my purse to town so I can't spend money.
I joined the library, I used to spend £15 - £20 per week on books
I buy fresh fruit and veg from the market and walk home with it. The fact that you are walking home restricts how much you buy.
The only meat I tend to eat now is chicken and turkey and they are the cheapest as well as the lowest in fat.
I've taken up gardening. I grow all my plants and some veg from seed. I buy my plant pots etc from the local recycling centre.
I do not nor will ever belong to a gym. A brisk 45 minute walk with the dog every day costs nothing.
I had five days at home over the easter holiday and if I had not of kept myself busy doing DIY, gardening and spring cleaning I would have ate us out of house and home.

Good luck to the rest of you fellow potential thinnies!!!!

    Hi

I have now started 'eating in a sensible way' (a long way to say 'diet') and I cannot stop thinking of food! I know this is normal but I don't want food to rule my life!

I am also trying to walk more, easy since I already walk everywhere as I do not own a car!

I have entered my details in the Slimming world thingy and used the password, thank you Elona!

I am also trying out the 3 free days in the weightlossresources website.

    Wish me luck!

    Caterina

    Hi,
I'm new to all this so you'll have to excuse any warblings!!
I picked Caterina's thread on saving money oldstyle and of course its now been moved to here, so here goes...

I want to lose weight, I want to do it on a shoe string and I'm a slimming world fan.
I've noticed that a few of you either go to a slimming world club or at least do the diet so I was wondering if you end up spending more on food shopping each week?
I've just had my shopping delivered and I've gone over budget, though some of that could be that it was the end of the month and everything was looking very empty!
I find generally though that I start slimming world then struggle to justify the expense, so then think I'll just cut down on what I eat, which usaully means going completely off the rails.
I want to stick to it this time and I'm set up for it but I'd love some advice on how you do it and still moneysave?

I'm not planning on going to a class so I guess thats a saving already... :D

    Any help greatly appreciated

    Hello :D

I'm not reading all 54 pages right now as it scares me :D

Anyway, I'm overweight and wish to lose weight.

Thing is, fruit etc doesn't fill me up and i snack all the time, I'm always hungry :( So i eat crisps etc all the time and loads of bad foods.

I'm agoraphobic so don't go out much, I've tried gyms in the past but can't stick to it because of the phobia.

I'm overweight and unattractive, can't do anything about my ugly mug but would like too with my belly etc.

Hope It's okay a bloke joining In.

    :D

Day 3 and still thinking of food all the time...

I am on a 1600-1700 calories a day count, as I walk a lot (taken it from the weightlossresources freebie so I hope it is ok).

I am sure that at this calorie level, if I manage to maintain it, I shall lose weight as I have more than 3 st to lose.

What I find difficult is to diet cooking from scratch. Anyone who knows me knows that I love scratch cooking but doing it on a reduced fat reduced cheese reduced choc etc makes me mad! Also, I have been used to associate diets with 'ready meals' because that is the way I used to lose weight before, while working in an office and shoving a cardboard box of lasagne in the microwave at lunchtime, then a low cal pizza in the oven for dinner. So I truly need to re-educate myself!

Welcome Miroslav! I saw a few of your posts in the Old Style board, good that you have made it over here too - of course it is ok for a bloke to want to slim!

Best wishes to all of you dieters out there!

    Caterina

PS how do you put icons in the text of the message rather than just at the top?

Hi everyone. AT LAST I have lost 2 pounds. We went away for a long weekend so I had to eat at evening meal times. I will just have to go away a bit more. The password for slimming world this week is BRISK. Good luck everyone

Sorry to be bossy but I think you would be much happier on the Slimming World Green days plan as you do NOT have to be hungry , count calories or be constantly denying yourself.

The idea is to EAT - but make sure you eat "free foods" and make sure you eat plenty of them.

How does pasta with cheese sauce, sin free chips and sin free crisps sound - and that is just for starters.
