Feeling VERY unmotivated right now, I know Easter and the kids being off school hasn't helped - can anyone recommend any good websites for keeping up your motivation whilst dieting.
I just give in to easily - and when the kids are about eating all sorts of things I shouldn't - I just join in. Although we have been going for walks and bike rides whilst they've been off, I have still put on weight.
I know that I am an "all or nothing" type of person and I either diet rigidly with no cheating - or I throw it all to the wind and say oh why not...
The problem is getting me in the right frame of mind to diet and stay dieting - I need motivating constantly, just thought that there might be a website out there somewhere that gives you daily reminders, pointers or something???0 -

Have you had a look at the Slimming World website?
It has lots of success stories - recipes etc. You do not need to be a member to look at the website and it should help motivate you.:j"This site is addictive!"

Hello all,
Quick special hello to savvy_sue - lots of soup and fruit and veg over the weekend and I'm sure the hospital visit will be fine. It's worth telling them about the exercise you've been doing as well, as if they just weigh you rather than check your body fat % then they won't see all the improvements you've made. And the risk factor is based on body fat more than weight...
Got to say that I'm feeling a bit down - I've managed to put on 3 pounds over the last 6 weeks. Because of the gym! I've done my body fat percentage calculations, and I'm down to 27% which is okay, but that means I've lost 3 pounds of fat and put on 6 pounds of muscle.
Which is theoretically good, and I feel healthier and fitter, but I'm worried that I'm going to start looking like an East European shotputter from the 80's rather than Kate Moss...
Any suggestions? I'm not even using the weights machines, just using the rowing machine, cross trainer and treadmill. Food-wise, I thought I was doing better - been avoiding seconds at dinner and taking it to work the next day instead (healthy food rather than prepackaged sandwiches and takeaway curries), and taking fruit and museli bars to work to snack on instead of chocolate... But none of it is working!!!!0 -

Hey all
Nice to see some new faces around the thread again this week.
Linda - you star!! It was in there waiting to come off and the weekend away sounds like just what you needed to shift it. How can hubby refuse more weekends away on that basis
Savy Sue - You are so close to tipping over into the non obese barrier I am jealous as a jealous thing! Hope they are nice to you on Tuesday and you get your appointment quickly. Then you can get on with the important stuff like the dieting
I lost a pound this week, that was with the boyfriend over with me as well, so I am chuffed to bits
Will try to check in during the week as I'm not expecting such a hectic week... *hopes*Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Hiya All,
I'm brand spanking new to this thread, I need some advice. I am very overweight, I am 5'1 and I am roughly double my 'ideal' weight for my height, I have always been big, I managed to lose 2 1/2 stone 4 years whilst my husband was away(he wasn't in prison-well, not unless you count a Royal Naval destroyer) and then he returned and I got pregnant after 2 yrs trying, I have PCOS and used metformin to get pregnant and regulate my 'cycle'. Since my baby has been born(he is 2 and a half) I have struggeled to get this weight off, I have the willpower of a radiator and have booked a hypnosis session this thursday(not money saving at £35 a session but I am desperate.) and I have been trying to get some details on the lighter for life, I don't fit any of my clothes and it seems that everytime I try something I end up giving up and putting more weight on than I originally started with. My husband loves me the way I am, and doesn't think I need to lose weight but belives that if I want to then I should, I am sorry to rank but I just wanted to know if any of you had tried the above mentionedI'm a lady, I like ladies things0 -

If you get on with the hypnotist and it works for you then I am sure he or she would have a weight loss tape that he /she would sell you to take home and it would be cheaper than constant visits.:A
Don't let the weight get you down as it is very easy to feel "unworthy" and that just makes everything more difficult.
You have done really well suceeding in having a child and your husband and family love you unconditionally.
If you try to think of getting healthy rather than losing weight then it might not be so daunting."This site is addictive!"

OMG you are doing brilliantly! Just the fact that you are using bf% not just scales shows an intelligent approach.
As for the shot putter thingy, you would likely have to put on another 30lbs of muscle, and drop 18% bodyfat before you looked like that. The 6lbs is just your body making "newbie" muscle gains...I weightlift and though I train hard, as I have trained for a while it would take me about a month to gain a lb of muscle.
Obviously also your BMR will increase with muscle. Dont be disheartened that progress is fantastic. Dont know how old you are as have not read all posts but if you used to have any knee/back pain etc. the muscle will help ease it.
How do you do your bf calculations?Err, I'll get back to you about the funny signature0 -
Hi all
Things have been going well up to yesterday. Up to then I ate the Slimming World (-ish) way and even without being too strict, I found that in 7-8 days of sensible eating my double chin is less huge and my trousers don't pull at the waist.
Then yesterday I got called into hospital for a client's birth, straight after a monring's work with a postnatal client - so I got to hospital and supported this woman until 7pm, when I started feeling woozy for lack of sustenance (having had no time to get lunch). So I went down to the hospital canteen and ate a HUMONGOUS slice of pizza.
The baby got stuck and the woman was taken into theatre for a caesarean section, she went in with her husband. So I was left in the room waiting with a pack of nuts and raisins and another one of halva (her sustenance during labour). I ate from both, not too much but enough to count as overeating.
Then today I went to visit her for her breastfeeding support visit, stayed until 3pm (and skipped lunch again), while there I had coffee and 2 shortbread biscuits. When I left I made a beeline for a Chinese buffet restaurant (vegetarian) where I ate a lot, but at least the rice was boiled and the veg did not swim in oily sauces so I think that did not do too much damage.
Now I feel like I am a failure - will I ever be back on course? It is so easy to slip!
The only good news: the baby was born last night and he is gorgeous, both mum and baby are doing beautifully and the breastfeeding is going very well (so at least she will shed her baby-weight quickly! Lucky her!)
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
