Hiya, thank you for all your nice messages, the lighter for life lady rang me this morning and I told her firstly that I was annoyed that I couldn't find out any info before she called, and that the cost was far to much (£180 per month just aint money saving). I am going to do this hypnosis tonight so hopefully that will work.
    UPDATE

I have just spent the last few hours talking to various government departments and have found out that the 'exercise on prescription' should be available, it is here in Portsmouth(not many know about it-most of all my GP's practice.) I want to be slimmer, or should I say less morbidly obese

Savvy_sue - Congratulations on getting "approved" by the hospital! (and without having to get naked either, which is always an added bonus!!!)
Naked I can cope with, as long as everyone else is ... :rotfl:
Definitely worth doing! Sounds like you're losing inches along with the pounds, which is just the way it should be. I'd suggest that maybe it's time for a wee shopping trip, but that's not really money saving, is it???
Apart from bright pink PJs, which I was very excited to find in Debenhams:j, even more excited to find reduced in the sale:j:j, and absolutely ecstatic to find that a size 18 fitted :j:j:j, I'm about all shopped out in preparation for going into hospital next week.

Seems a bit daft to buy new trousers before I get an answer to my son's question: "How likely are you to die?" I'm sure the answer is "not very", and I plan a session with a Personal Shopper in Debenhams as soon as my brain and body are working together once more ... I'm sure I'll lose weight in hospital, as long as no-one force feeds me chocolate ...

When I was last in hospital the food was so disgusting - you would eat anything you could get your hands on from the trolley - choc, crisps etc - not because you wanted the stuff but because you were starving!

Get hubby to bring you in sandwiches or something when he visits. Good luck :):):)

   Thank you for the tip but the op has been postponed because my blood pressure is too high! Now I wonder why it's high, could it possibly be because I am ever so slightly a teensy weensy little bit STRESSED?

Anyway, don't let's worry about that over here, I've posted on the Health Board (not for advice, just pointers to info) but I am now DETERMINED to lose more weight because I KNOW that is one of the things to do to reduce blood pressure.

I came across a good tip to relax that only takes a few minutes.

Sit quietly and close your eyes then imagine a bright blue sky - then slowly introduce white fluffy clouds and see them drift across sky. This tip came with a "stress card" that was supposed to measure your stress levels and the tip did seem to reduce it.

It is also a well known medical fact that blood pressure can be higher when measured in hospital than when done by own G.P. etc - it is called"white coat" tests. :):):)

I am on the "Exercise on Prescription" plan from my Dr. I dont know if its the same for all areas but when I asked my Dr he gave me a booklet which he had to stamp. I then had to make an apt at the local council run gym to see the EOP Instructor. He asked me some q's about my health, weight (you dont have to tell them your weight) and why you want to go on EOP. At the next apt he will do your induction. Basically this is just showing you how to use the equipment in the gym and what settings you should use. He will write all this info down on a card so you dont have to try to remember everything. This card is kept in the gym so when you attend the gym you collect your card, enter the date on the card and follow the exercises given to you.

After 10 sessions you get to stage 2. I am at that stage now but my instructor is off due to surgery so Im not 100% sure what happens here.

I was also given a booklet of vouchers. You get 10 £1 vouchers as an incentive to go.

Hope that helps. Feel free to PM me if I can help anymore. :j

Good for you Austin, good luck with the hypnosis!

I went to a lighterlife meeting once and I was horrified at how secretive the whole thing was before the meeting and how much palaver we had to go through before the whole thing came to the crunch (they are selling meal replacement beverages).

Also, although it might work for some, the idea of giving up real food is just not healthy in my opinion, we ought to stop fearing food instead of avoiding it, and just make healthy changes rather than substitute it with a very expensive beverage instead!

There is definitely a GP exercise on prescription here in Greenwich (SE London) - so if anyone reads this and lives in Greenwich, ask your GP for it, it is run by the Waterfront Leisure Centre in Woolwich.

I have also seen, on the Slimming World site, a slimming class on prescription, but although SW subsidise it, the NHS has to pay a portion of it and I bet they would not be too happy to fork out any money! Has anyone managed to persuade their GP to do this?

    Love to all

    Caterina

ps. My eating is marginally more in control again hehehe
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

When I got weighed yesterday I had lost another pound this week, so seem to be back on the straight and narrow, strolling 'casually' towards my goal. Would be nicer if I could manage a trot every so often just to get there a bit faster :D

Linda - sounds like the scales at your meeting were having a real fritz! I bet you are relieved you have now bought the wedding suit, as that means that trial is out of the way - any details? colour? style? Thanks again for this weeks password, I'm making very good use of the recipes on there to have a few changes from my normal food, just to give it a bit of a shake up!

lazylins - you have done fabulously! Crikey I would be so proud if that was me, I bet you go around walking on air and chest puffed out with pride at what you have achieved so far. You go girl! A stone at a time is how I'm setting my targets, still have loads to lose and so focusing on each little hill rather than the Mount Everest that I'll need to overcome to to where I want to be!

Austin - glad my info on LighterLife helped out. I was put off by not only the cost but the not eating normal food again for quite a long time, then having to slowly build it back in. Also didn't like the idea of paying every month for blood pressure to be taken either. How did the hypnosis go with you? Did you go in the end?

Sue - I'm sorry to hear about your op being postponed :( Have they said how long for or will you have to go back in for check ups until they think your blood pressure is down low enough for them? I bet you are so angry as it is quite a thing to be psyching yourself up for then to suddenly be left flat and in limbo again. Go kick some Doctor-butt and get them to do your darn op or else face the wrath of MSE'ers! Which reminds me, I heard that kcik boxing was quite a good workout but I'm scared to try it as I'm really not very fit at all. Any else tried kickboxing?

elona - I just tried out your stress buster and it is really calming. I also built into it the smell of fresh cut grass (so glad I'm not allergic to that as I love that smell!) and it really does settle your breathing and make you relax! Now I know what to do next time I'm about to tackle a really difficult task that I have built up in my mind as nigh on impossible. Thanks for the tip!

Caterina - last time I went to the nurse and she weighed me in and congratulated me on my weight loss since I had last been in (6 months before), she didn't offer me SW classes on prescription but mentioned about slimming pills which she could provide me with if I start to find it tough going on the diet. This quite horrified me as I have heard some really nasty stories about becoming addicted to those types of pills and also bad side effects. I will ask next time I go though about exercise on prescription as that would certainly be cheaper than my gym membership - which I gave to myself as a Christmas pressie!

Hope it's going well for everyone. :)
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out

I am really pleased the relaxation tip helped you.

I was trying to reply to Savvy Sue but could not remember which thread I had put this on so got confused.

Keeping my fingers crossed(and everything else) that spare part arrives for our shower soon so it can get fixed and that our hall floor can get retiled as place is upside down and does not make you want to do anything.:):):)
