Can anyone tell me if you can still by the books that tell you the calories of branded foods etc. ? Are ther any free calorie counting websites ?0
-
I usually buy either "A-Z Calories" or Slimming mag's "Your Greatest Guide to Calories and Fat". I tend to use these mainly for basic items like fresh fruit and veg since most packaging these days gives you the calorific value.
For a free calorie counting website have you tried Daily Diet Tracker?http://www.dailydiettracker.co.uk/
Have to confess I didn't like it, I found it a bit cumbersome to use plus it didn't cover some of the foods that i usually eat.
Weighed myself this morning, well Sunday morning - didn't realise it was past midnight! - and I've lost 4 1/2 pounds this week. :j Trying not to get too excited since it's my first week and I know a lot of that will be excess fluid but it does feel good!! .
VelvetGlove, good luck for Friday, hope you do well.
Best wishes for a good week everyone! No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0 -
I am about to join Slimming World tomorrow for the first time.
Can anyone tell me what to expect?0 -

Glad you weren't offended sleepy, and glad it's all going well, yes sometimes the time is just 'right' for these things. Don't despair if you fall off the wagon a few times, and if you don't fancy the stepper or weights just get out into the fresh air for a walk - preferably with your gorgeous fiance! Velvet Glove is right, these lighter evenings really help. I hurtled round the block at 8 pm yesterday, wouldn't dare do that in winter because I worry about falling or tripping!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi everyone.
Went to SW and stayed the same this week:j It was my husbands birthday and we went out for a meal and then we had some cake so I am glad I stayed the same.
Have a good week and the password for the Slimming World website is

ok I'm back...
having not lost any weight...was going to do the sw diet but then decided to just 'cut down'. That worked for about a week and here I am back in the same place...
We get payed next friday and until then we're on war rations ( very tight month!)
My plan is to start next friday 29th April doing slimming world and I'll just have to see how it effects the shopping buget and tweek accordingly
I have found everyones posts really encouraging though, the good times and the bad and so I'm hoping thatI can just push through even in the hard times...0 -
I don't know if this will help anyone, but in my quest to lower my blood pressure I've found the Dash Eating Plan. It's American, and aimed at reducing bp as much as losing weight, but the two go hand in hand (sorry I could probably bore for England on the subject these days!) and I thought the guide to portion sizes on page 5 and the "What's on your plate?" chart on page 12 were quite useful. I can imagine me ticking boxes better than I can imagine me writing down everything I eat, somehow.
There's also a load of daily meal plans and recipes for those who like that kind of thing and speak American.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Cas - Thanks for the good luck vibes, but I got the date wrong and it is next Friday  so at least I have a few more days to study!Purdy_1 wrote:I am about to join Slimming World tomorrow for the first time.

Purdy, not sure if you already know this or if you didn't manage to get to the class but if you go here then that should take you to a post I made earlier in this thread about the classes when I used to attend. Hope that helps
Linda - I think that used to be the best thing.... having had a week where I had 'treated' myself and managed to maintain not gain! I can't believe it is already a week since the last password - time seems to have just flown past, I really can't believe it!
FrankieM - good luck! In respect of your shopping bills, when I started shopping for my diet I found that my bill was around a third the size of a usual (non-healthy) shopping trip, but I guess that would depend upon what you were buying before. We only a post away if you want to celebrate, yell, vent, query or share
Looking forward to getting weighed this week as I have eaten so healthily that I should lose the equvalent of about an armSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Still happy, I lost another 3 pounds this week :j (and that's despite giving into temptation and buying some shortbread bisciuts, but I did deliberately get a small pack).
I hope everyone else has had a successful week.
Now all I have to do is actually get round to doing some exercise (there are just so many excuses and so little time!)0 -
Ok - I'm going backwards now - exercising at gym 3 times a week but have not particularly been dieting - and I've put a couple of pounds on - thought it might be muscle but when I remeasured myself I've not lost anything at all. HELP!!!
I am considering starting a "Proper" diet but not sure what to do. I normally just start counting calories. In the past I have lost weight when I went to Rosemary Conley classes but they don't do any in my area anymore....
any suggestions.0
