  • Welcome weddedbliss...

...and hello again to everyone else!

I weighed myself today for the first time in 3 weeks and disappointingly I've only lost 2lb. But on the plus side, my bodyfat is down 2% which is great, and probably explains why I'm having less trouble doing up my skirts! Still a bit demotivating though 'cos I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week (up from 0 times a week), and I've been eating healthier stuff and less of it, so I was expecting a couple more pounds to have evaporated off my wobbly bits. Any suggestions?

Have a healthy and happy weekend all...

Yep, if you have been going to gym maybe you have aquired muscle rather than fat - muscle actually weighs more than fat so that could account for it.

I read something about it over on South Beach forum http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/forum/

    Keep up the work !

Weigh-in this morning and really hopeful this week as I've been extra "good" with my food and walked or treadmilled every day. A 2lb. loss, so delighted as I've stayed the same for the last 2 weeks.:) Just 9 more lbs. to go ...

Well done littleangel. It may not seem to be a dramatic weight loss after all your hard work, but you're obviously looking/feeling better and I bet that weight starts to come off faster soon. Keep it up!

jaffa - there is something quite low in sins that I made up which I find really tasty on a green day. I call it Pasta Pasata.

Ingredients: Pasta, Bottle of Pasata, some very low fat creme fraiche.

Basically cook of a load of pasta (it can be twists, tubes shells or any other shapes - although I prefer the pasta tubes for this recipe), then drain the pasta and pop it back into the saucepan. Add some of the pasata, no measurements here I'm afraid I just throw in enough to make sure all the pasta gets a nice covering of the red stuff :) Then return to a low heat and add in a couple of tablespoons of the creme fraiche (this takes away some of the sharp tomato tang of the pasata). Leave on the heat stirring occasionally so it all heats up - then tip it out into a bowl and eat.

The only thing with sins in is the creme fraiche but I find it a really quick and easy, filling meal. I have tried adding a little tuna or chicken to it but I really prefer it plain!

I'll post another when I can think of a good one jaffa.

sleepy - don't worry about the staying the same. It is your body's way of balancing up what can be some quite major changes to the distribution of fat and stuff around our bodies. Sometimes it needs a small period of adjustment and then it will be away again :) Just stick with it and you'll see!

MimiJane - lets make a pact - you go into your garage on the treadmill and I will make time and energy to visit the gym this week as I didn't get around to that either as I was so tired out from work (and perhaps lack of fluids..) Is that a deal?

Hi likabu! Small targets are much better than huge great big milestones! A half stone mini target sounds great, just make sure you give yourself a chance to get there! Great to hear about you making the first step as that is always the hardest. Together we'll all get there eventually!

Linda12 - That's fantastic news! Well done you! I saw the parsnip soup in the mag but I'm not keen on parsnips - do you think it would work with another veg substitued instead of the parsnips?

elona - If you are missing the bright warm sunshine on your skin then try this - sit in front of a desk lamp, turn it towads you then close your eyes and turn it on. You'll feel some warmth on your skin from the lamp and the brightness through your closed eyes and that may be enough to see you through any SAD you are feeling right now. Of course, if we do get any snow, I intend to spend a bit of time away from the computer throwing snowballs for my 2 dogs to chase after :) Should be fun!

Hi Weddedbliss :) I think you hit lucky there with my favourite flavour of crisps too! Mmmm beef and onion *drool* I'll just focus on the sin free chunky chips, mushy peas and fry-light fried egg I'll be having for my tea and hope that staves off the cravings for the crisps!

littleangel - nice one! don't focus on the scales value - look at how much easier it is to get into those skirts! With all the gym work you have been doing, you are defintely toning up and building a little muscle. As I've already said, muscle burns more fuel (calories) than fat does so it won't be long before those scales are shifting again for you. Keep it up and you'll be there before you know it.

I had a really nasty shock when I got on the scales this week. I put on 5 pounds. (this is where I could really do with a devastated smilie!) Now where these errant pounds came from I honestly don't know :( the only thing I can think of is that this week I have not even had a whole glass of water each day let alone 8 glasses (at work I was in lecture style sessions this week so I didn't want to have to rush out mid session for a pee so thought less fluid in = less fluid out!) Also can't remember eating any veg this week and hardly any fruit so really have to concentrate on that today onwards. I'm going to have to just drink the fluids and cross my legs if I have to as I think my body may have retained whatever fluids it did get as it knew it wasn't getting enough - would probably explain my heaadaches this last week as well... I guess Rome wasn't built in a day so I'll hang on in for another week of renewed effort and definite gym visits, loads of water and plenty of fruit and veg! Let's see what next week brings (or hopefully... doesn't! )

try increasing your fibre intake and check that it is not fluid retention because of time of the month ):):):

Well, spent 45 minutes in a freezing garage earlier treadmilling and used up 250 calories. I'm going to try to summon up the enthusiasm to treadmill or walk everday next week, but will give myself a rest tomorrow.

So, no excuses VelvetGlove ... get to that gym!;)

*shuffles her feet and looks down at her toes* OK I'll make Monday night the a gym night and then do my full program. :)

elona - I don't usually suffer from that kind of thing but I have been under a lot of pressure at work recently. Will stock up on Veggies and more fruit when I nip to the supermarket tomorrow and make sure I eat them! Thanks!

considering I have been on holiday in France for a few days I think I can be forgiven! Some days we walked more than others, like the day we got the car stuck in the snow at the bottom of a steep road and had to walk up and down it a few times to get help. :o Since getting back I have beaten a steady path from the washing machine to the tumble drier and not a lot further than that, apart from round the supermarket so we could eat this next week. Hey, maybe that's where I'm going wrong! :D

i.ve always been big but in recent yrs got bigger and bigger and have ignored it, been thinking life is ok will do something abt it tomorrow well did i get a shock.. my 10 yr old daughter has been telling my friends and family not to buy me chocolates for my up and coming birthday and not to let me have a takeaway now and again seems she is upset by my weight gain and is frightened that i will die one day because of it.. she hasnt said anything to me as she didnt want to upset me by letting me know that she knows im fat , well this is the knock on the head i need to do some drastic life changing. They say life starts at 40 well it will be for me.. We dont always realise how our weight upsets the kids, Im going to look into ways of losing the weight as if im realistic i have over 10 stone to lose to make a daughter proud of me rather than ashamed ..
Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.
