Thanks for the pasta pasata suggestion - I will give it a try.
Had a really naughty weekend - so extra gym sessions this week and extra good diet
If I can do the gym you can too....
Welcome jockett - the most important thing is that you want to do this - that's half the battle so go for it!!!0 -

They say life starts at 40 well it will be for me.. We dont always realise how our weight upsets the kids, Im going to look into ways of losing the weight as if im realistic i have over 10 stone to lose to make a daughter proud of me rather than ashamed ..
Hi jockettuk,
Well done for making the decision to lose weight.:) It often takes something like this to "shock" us into doing something about our problem. 10 stone may seem a lot, but just getting into healthier eating habits and trying to incorporate some exercise will mean it soon starts to drop off.
There's plenty of info. on here about different types of diet ... you just have to find one that fits in best with your life-style. Personally, I like the Slimming World way of eating 'cos you can eat loads, as long as it's the right foods!
You can and will make your daughter proud of you I'm sure and we're all here for support if/when you need it.:)
Good luck and let us know how you progress.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -

When you have a lot of weight to lose I do think it's a good idea to see GP before you start doing anything crazy like joining a gym (and any reputable gym would say the same, I hope!) Apart from anything else, some people find that there are 'deals' available whereby the GP refers you and you get reduced rates for swimming etc. Having said that, when I asked at our surgery they didn't seem to think there was any support or help offered to those wanting to lose weight, but maybe they'll start thinking about it now!
You do need to move more as well as eat less: if there are activities you can enjoy with your daughter then do give them a go. Walking, swimming etc. You may not be able to keep up with her at first but things will get better!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Its simple, if you eat more calories than you use up, you will get fat.
what if you have a thyroid problem etc ... sometimes its medical that makes you put on weightThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Jocket
do you have a thyroid problem?
I am hypothyroid and it took ages to get diagnosed and put on correct level of medication but I have still lost two stone and am determined to keep going.
I know it is difficult when weather is so bad but it will soon be spring:):)

Hello everyone
I've been having quick looks around here every now and again, then going off and hiding my head in a bucket of sand (not literally of course, more like sticking it in the fridge)...
Today was crunch day however. I am presently out of work, and tomorrow I've got an interview for a job I really, really want. Oh what a shock I got when I tried to get a decent outfit for the interview. I've been slobbing out in t-shirts and trackie bottoms...they so kindly expand with a person! So on trying on clothes and having to look at myself in the mirror (haven't got a full length one of those at home!) I was just appalled at what was looking back at me. I truly am the proverbial bag of spuds. OK I have always battled with my weight, and kind of conquered it around 12 years ago when I got down to 9 stones with weight watchers...that represented a loss of 5 stones exactly. I've been yo-yoing a lot over the last decade... up to 13 stone, down to 10, up to 11 stone, down to 10 1/2 up to 14 etc etc etc. Well every last ounce is now all back on and packed around my middle so I am unhealthy "apple" shape and officially I am back exactly where I started 12 years ago. It is so demoralising.
My fancy this time is to do the Slimming World routine. I did it before but that was in England...I live in N.Ireland now, nearest class is in Shropshire, so not that convenient. Is there anyone on here doing Slimming World online, or anyone able to tell me if it is worth subscribing to and how much it costs.
I just can't go on like this, I feel disgusting...already have depression and on anti-d's, this weight problem doesn't help me at all and in fact I think it has an awful lot to do with my self-esteem (then of course I comfort eat..doh!).
Is it OK if I join in with you guys and gals?
Thanks.

You are very welcome, and please don't feel disgusted and depressed for long because you are obviously a lovely person a) from your posts elsewhere and b) because you want to join us lovely losers here.
Velvet Glove seems to know lots about Slimming World, I've not been able to get to a class so far and can't get away from this website long enough to work out whether that one is any good ...
(Does anyone else ever wonder if their weight loss would improve if they spent a little less time sitting on their backside here? No? Just a thought ...)Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
