jockettuk - I don't have a daughter, I have a worried mum who is very concerned about my health and every time I pick up a cold or a cough it is because of my weight  She is also worried about the more severe consequences of my being very overweight and she is supporting me through this latest attempt to shed the extra person living inside me! Making your mind up to jump into a healthier way of eating is the first step on the road we are all on so welcome and I'm sure we all look forward to your company on this journey!
jaffa I have another favourite recipe from one of the SW cook books, it is from their Quick and Easy Family Meals books - Stir Fried Pork with Noodles (10.5 sins on red day, 7.5 sins on green but ohhh it is worth it!!) About 15 mins prep time and 10 mins cooking time, very easy and very tasty, let me know if you want it and I'll type it inIt is something my boyfriend absolutely loves when he comes over as it doesn't taste (in his words) 'diety' !
(Due to smilie and tag limit I've had to split this post, it should follow on in just a sec!)Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
SnowyOwl What a cool nick! Perhaps with the hiding your head in the sand Ostrich may have been more apt but that's coming from someone who has been an ostrich about her weight for most of her life and decided last April with 'I wanna Lose Weight - thread 1' that it was time I got my act together and started to sort my problem out
That decision is the hardest and once you have your 'dieting head' on then it is the first step. More than welcome to join in with us all on here, we are here to cajole, laugh, cry together and just be there for when someone needs a bit more help - but also for the lighter side of dieting (no pun intended!) when people can share their successes of getting into the size smaller clothes and even just saying how they managed to resist temptation etc.
Oh what a shock I got when I tried to get a decent outfit for the interview. I've been slobbing out in t-shirts and trackie bottoms...they so kindly expand with a person! So on trying on clothes and having to look at myself in the mirror (haven't got a full length one of those at home!) I was just appalled at what was looking back at me. I truly am the proverbial bag of spuds.
I follow Slimming World from the books I had from a club in the early '90s and occasionally someone will send me through the internet password so I can look sins up on their website (as that bit is behind the password protected area). I pay money into a savings account instead of spending it out on a club and am building up a nice little nest egg for new clothes for when I am where I want to be weight wise. The support people get from going to a club , I get from the people on here, sharing highs and lows and generally being there for each other. I can't say how the online SW is though I'm afraid as I haven't tried it officially, but I will say that there is loads of information and help in the password protected area that is on top of all the recipes and help you can get just from visiting the site. Oh I do buy the magazine though to give me current ideas and help with the motivationIn the magazine this is what it says about the online Slimming World:
Join for just 66p per day, that's less than a bottle of cola each lunchtime! (minimum subscription is for a 3 month period).

Forgot to mention in the above post that they also do a 'postal membership' if anyone wants details of this and doesn't have the magazine (page 97 of March 2005 mag) then let me know and I'll pop some info up here for you.
Savvy_Sue I have thought for a while that if the gym also had the internet as well as the tv then I could stay there for hoursWould be able to perfect typing while I walk then. Hope you had a great time in France and avoided all the recent ferry troubles and port blockades going on!
embook Hi!Don't be down and get into a secret ashamed cycle as that can be the start of some pretty dark days. You saying you ate a packet of crisps and a huge chunk of cheese isn't the end of the world! Sounds like you are into something I used to do which was self sabotage any diet attempt very early on as I just knew I would fail anyway so fail early and it's done with! Posting on here is a great first step and I know that everyone on here will support you and keep you going if you give us and yourself a chance! Have you thought what you will do yet by way of changing your eating habits? There are loads of ways to change your lifestyle to healthier eating and you just need to pick one and see if it suits you
If you need any help or advice just yell out and we'll be here!
(Really not liking this limit to the tags/smilies in a post! It seems to be so few... or perhaps I just use lots)Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
lazylins how you doing girl! Other than the takeaways, sounds like you are having a fantastic dieting year! I've slipped back a bit but determined to keep going. It's a shame it isn't as easy to lose the weight as it is to put it on *grin* Fab weight loss this week! Gives me something to aim for next week.
bridiej as Sue said, run to that tape measure and you will see that you are changing shape and that is the ultimate goal, right? To fit into the clothes you want to buy... the losing of more pounds will then follow as the muscle will need to metabolise more fat (if you have any left!) and use more of the calories you eat just to keep those trimmed and honed muscles going *smile* Way to go!
Linda12 As I already mentioned to you, at least you are still half a pound ahead of where you were 2 weeks ago. Keep at it and you'll crack it. *smile* We'll be here cheering you on from the sidelines.
elonaI think we all eat a little more when it is cold and nasty out. I know I feel happier when I have warm food in my belly and it is cold out. I have been having a few slim a soups this week to give me the warm-belly feeling!
jaffa That's amazing! Did you do anything diferent? Or can you pin the loss down to anything in particular? Or was it just time for it to have a little shift? So chuffed for you!
MimiJane Staying the same is great if you were thinking that you might put on this week. It's nice when you get pleasant surprises like that!
This week I didn't weigh until today and have lost 2 pounds (of the five that went on last week for no good reason). So I guess at least it is coming back off. Will redouble my efforts and see if I can bust that other 3 pounds off again, will have to seeSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0
