I have posted several notes on this site and I am despeate to lose weight but I just seem to be going backwards. I am a member of Slimmimg world and I seem to have lost the plot. I was doing well but I have lost all interest in food . I am not eating much during the day so my body has gone into starvation mode. I have a bowl of porridge for my breakfast and a sandwich or some crackers with low fat sheese for my lunch with a yoghurt then when it comes to teatime I cook a meal for my husbands tea and have nothing myself. I have got it into my head that if I east too much I will put weight on. I am so fed up. Could some of you kind people take a few moments from your busy lives to give me a kick up the backside. My son gets married on May7th and I would love to look nice for him and for me. Many thanks in anticipation0

You will make yourself ill if you keep starving yourself and the weight will stick to you like mad.
The whole ethos of Slimming World is that you lose the guilt about eating and can enjoy food - that is also the whole concept of flexible sins.
I find it very difficult when the weather is bad and days are so dark and I am sure we will all be doing better in the next few weeks.
Please do not punish yourself like this - You do not deserve it and it is counter productive!
Please remember how well you have done and even if all the weight does not go as quickly as you would like it is still better than you were before and concentrate on looking after yourself rather than punishing yourself.
If you want to P.M. me and if you think I can help in any way then I would be glad to do it.
I know what it is like to feel desperate and helpless but it really does not have to be that way"This site is addictive!"

Now come on lass! You've painted yourself into a corner and just need someone to throw you a plank so you can walk out of it *chucks a plank over to the corner* I wondered where you had gotten to as I hadn't seen you on the thread for a little while. As for going backwards, I'm still undoing the weight gain from December and Christmas so I'm familiar with where you are and there is a way out
I'm not a psycologist but I think you've gotten frightened of food and that is not a good thing. We need to eat to give our bodies fuel to function and if it doesn't get the amount of fuel it needs for basic functions then, as elona mentioned, your body goes into starvation mode and really hangs onto anything you put in your mouth as it is worried about when it will next get fuel!
Linda, the porridge sounds fine for brekky, unless you could maybe have another choice for breakfast which wouldn't be as filling which would mean you are then ready for food at lunch time? Why not have a little change around, you have your books and if you want some help then get in touch with me, OK?
For lunch could you make yourself a nice mixed salad to go with your sandwich/crackers? Now you know that salad won't 'hurt' your weight loss but it will give your body some more bulk intake that will make it relax out of starvation mode and back to normal again. If you have chosen a green day (it doesn't sound like you are choosing your red/green so try to make a conscious effort of that), then you know that having a few pasta bows in that salad will not hurt your weight and again it will make your body sit up and think ohhhhh food coming in so no need for starvation shutdown!
Also don't forget MullerLight is our friendit is free food on red or green days so perhaps a midafteroon yoghurt could help to tantalise those taste buds of yours. They have a really lovely limited edition flavour yoghurt out at the moment called Apple and Cinnamon and ohh heaven it has little pieces of apple in there! Give it a try if you feel you can.
At teatime, not sure if your hubbies tea is a meat and veggies one or something else but if you have had the pasta salad with your lunch (ie green day) then could you try to do yourself some veggies and some potatoes, perhaps have a little piece of trimmed meat? Obviously don't force them down if you are full as the 'not eating enough to feed a sparrow' will probably have meant that your stomach has shrunk down and it may need a little time to be able to accept 3 meals a day again.I have got it into my head that if I eat too much I will put weight on.My son gets married on May7th and I would love to look nice for him and for me.
Cheer up hun! You have all of us here to lean on and I happen to now have some spare time again so if you need a voice to talk to then call me! Or better still I have free minutes, pm or email me your number and I will call you! Won't cost either of us then(I have so many spare minutes at the end of every month it is a money saving crime
)
I have spent ages trying to make this post sound supportive and not cliched and this is the best I can do I'm afraid. Please do get in touch if you want me to give you a call. We are all in this together and it would be nice to have someone to chat with as it will (hopefully) help you and I know it would be a help to me too!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? I dont mind, I have 2 ears to listen and 2 really comfy shoulders for people to lean upon whenever they need to! I don't even mind if they get a little soggy as long as it helps whoever needs it!
At the end of the day we are in this together and need to be there for each other when we can help. We are following the same eating plan so I can try to help with this one!Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Thanks for the encouragement guys, been lousy ill this week, probably why I posted a miserable reply to the lovely lady who has lost 3 stone - she deserves a "well done". Anyway, must have lost weight, 'cos haven't been able to eat at all. Nice friend cooked us all a roast today (she knew I'd been ill and wouldn't want to cook for the family so invited us all round!) she was great, did beef, 2 large but quite thin lean slices, loads of veg, 1 roast potato, should be ok, especially as I haven't eaten much since Tuesday. I think it tasted the best because someone else cooked it. Keep it up everyone, and let's not fall off track during half term!0

Hi everyone - I've just been catching up with this thread after missing a few weeks.
Well done to all who are losing weight. I must say there are some wonderful supportive messages to those who are not feeling too great about themselves right now.
I have managed to lose 4 1/2 pounds in the last 5 weeks - but that really just puts me back to where I was before Christmas when I had a few too many treats!
I have another half stone to go to reach my target....
Would anyone be able to let me have some menus for red and green slimming world days? I don't want to join a class so have been buying the magazine and planning meals from them. But it would be great if someone would be kind enough to give me a few more menus to help me on my way...
Keep smiling everyone....0 -
I am not starving myself I just dont eat big meals. I dint like foreign food ie pasta or rice etc. I am a 52 year old woman who has brought up 2 healthy happy children who both give me great pleasure. I just get down over my weight. I get very frustrated that I cannot find the place I was before when I was losing weight regularly. Thank you velvet glove for your very supportive message both on the site and the private message. They are very much appreciated. I know it is all common sense I just seem to have lost my way but I am sure things will pick up soon0

Hi Jaffa,
Congrats. on the weight loss ... the "slow" way is best and you're more likely to keep it off.
Re. S/World recipes, do you like Quorn? I love both the mince and chunks and really spice them up to make Shepherds pie, chilli and rice, spaghetti bolognese, curries, etc. If you do eat Quorn or soya mince, it makes life such a lot easier as you can mix it with potatoes and pasta. I love passing Quorn off for mince to meat lovers and haven't found anyone yet who can taste the difference!
I tend to stick with green days on the whole, so haven't got many ideas for meat I'm afraid.
Anyway, sorry if you're not a Quorn lover.
Good luck,

... unfortunately I think my small-plate technique is somewhat lacking - ended up just having seconds, which I don't think was what I was supposed to do. But I will persevere! Luckily dinner was light on pasta and heavy on vegies so not a disaster...
Must admit, I'd probbaly be the same!!
Well, STILL not shifted a single ounce in weight BUT I can comfortably fit into a size 14 skirt that I bought in November - at the time of purchase struggled to even get it up over my thighs but now zipped up with room to spare!!0
