    I am SOOOO disappointed.
Got weighed this morning and I've lost nothing :'(
Stuck to GI diet since Sunday - must be all the muscle I'm building at the gym ;D
But I will keep to the diet and hope for better results next week.....
  • Hi all 8)

Congratulations to everybody who has been losing weight so far this year - well done.

This Christmas gone was the first time I can recall that I never gained weight in my adult life and I'll be 37 on the 15th - so that's a long time !!!

I put this all down to a great website that my girlfreind found about 9 months ago or so when she was looking to lose weight.
She found this one site where she could buy products and get full tailored support from a Personal Diet Coach.

At first I poo poo'd the whole thing as it sounded really namby pamby and all a bit hippy-ish and too good to be true - all the products are naturally derived and don't contain any chemicals or pharmaceuticals and are suitable for all dietry needs except vegans - hell they were even kosher !!! But by week 6 my girlfriend had lost 25lbs and was looking fantastic with loads of energy and as a new mum that was really needed.

I started to get interested myself now and saw this as a way of shifting some of my 24 st. Since I started, I have now lost 4 st 9 lbs and today I weigh 19 st 8lbs. I have lost a total of 2"s off of each thigh, 8"s off my chest, 6"s off my waist and about 1.5"s off my arms - so as you can see that's a lot of inch loss as well. Tammy, has gone from 12st to 8st 9lb a size 14 to a size 8/10 depending on what shop she go's in to. Not only have we both lost weight but our bodies have changed their shapes and we both feel great.

I can only recommend our Personal Diet Coach (Sarah or Sara?) she certainly helped the both of us and I was a real trcky customer for her as I had a "special" relationship with food 8).

If anyone is interested give her a call 020 8835 2044 or check out her websites https://www.healthnutronics.co.uk or https://www.besthealthproducts.co.uk she can post the products out to you and you can start losing weight by the end of next week if you're serious. I'm not sure where she is somewhere in surrey or south london I think and we're in Kent and it usually only takes a couple of days for delivery - so get the stuff and get a result and shoot all the haters and doubters up the bum !!!! 8)

    Good Luck guys

So what happens when you reach your target weight - do you stop taking this stuff ?
  • Hi GS

Once you have reached your target weight or goal or whatever you like to call it you go on a maintenance program for the same amount of time it took you to egt to your goal weight. This where Tammy is at right now.

From what I can understand this is to recondition both your mental and physical self and allow your body to become used to itself. Apparantly this reduces the chances of piling it all back on. Most people who do lose weight don't continue with the same practices of their repective diets once they have lost weight and this is why you get the term "yo-yo dieting".

It's working for T and I need to lose anothe 4 st and then I'll be on a maintenance program and a very happy boy !!!
Check out her site or call out Diet Coach, she'll talk you thru it !!!

Linda12 mentioned about the new books for Slimming World dieters. I've just had a look and they are also mentioned in the Jan/Feb 2005 Slimming World magazine page 103.

    they are called :
    • B37 Shop to Slim at Tesco £4.95
    • B38 Shop to Slim at Sainsbury's £4.95
    • B39 Shop to Slim at Asda £4.95
No actual details about what they contain but I could hazard a guess that they are like the Food Directory but with ONLY the named shops' products in there. I don't think I'll be getting one though as for £6.95 I could get the Food Directory 2005 which has all of the shops in there plus brand names like Batchelors, Cadburys, Bowyers etc. Also I have the FD 2004 so will make do with that and the magazine inserts for this year :) People who only shop in one place and stick to the shops own brands for cost reductions though may find this handy I guess. Of course I could be totally wrong about the content as I don't actually have them. Perhaps someone who goes to a club could take a peek inside and double check? ;)
If you wanted to order but don't visit an actual club, then the magazine quotes a credit card hotline 0870 330 1804 (I've just checked the saynoto0870.com and there isn't an alternative number for this one yet unfortunately). Phone line is open Mon - Friday 9am - 5pm, have credit or debit card details handy and P&P is £1 per book (£2 for the Food Directory 2005) If ordering 4 books or more then flat fee of £4 will apply. They have loads more recipe books, Quick Food ideas, free food books etc available but I won't bother listing them all out unless someone wants to see the list and doesn't have the magazine :)

As for me, I got weighed this morning and have lost 6lbs! This is really good but does have to have a couple of factors taken into consideration:
    (1) I'm still losing the extra weight that I had lost and then put back on through late December so it is bound to come off in a couple of lumps as it hasn't been on that long.
    (2) I've been quite ill this week, had a flu with aches pain and associated cold symptoms on Tuesday then by Tuesday night this killer cough came out of the blue! Been going into work as I'm on a course and taking exams at the moment (last one on Monday Hurrah! Then no more until mid February). By Friday morning I had a chest infection (could tell by the colour of phlegm) and was coughing up traces of blood, so a hastily arranged phone call to the docs by my mum (as I keep losing my voice) for Friday afternoon and I have confirmed Bronchitis and am now taking antibiotics! An upshot of this is I haven't really wanted to eat which is totally weird for me! This has, I think, been a major influence on the weight loss, although I was worried that the Strepsils, Night Nurse, Beechams tablets, aspro clear to gargle, etc would take their toll...

Hope the week went well for everyone else! Keeping my fingers crossed for you all :)

bridiej - *scold mode activated* Under no circumstances get weighed at intervals of less than a week! Your body fluctuates around so much on a day to day basis that this will just serve to raise your hopes but more than likely really put you on a downer if you see you haven't moved or have maybe gone up a pound or two. You have an official weigh in day I see of Monday mornings, resist the temptation to get on those scales on anything other than a Monday morning and you will feel so much better *end of scold mode*

Seriously, I do it to myself as well when the pull of the scales is a little too much to resist and I always regret it in the end. Sometimes it shows as a few pounds weight loss then not as much by my official weigh day. I think it is the body redistributing stuff around so if you catch it wrong you are in for false joy or seemingly depressing news, which may be enough one week to tip you off the straight and narrow of your new healthy eating regime into a binge. *hugs* Just stick to Mondays :) You are also very brave to put your weights and target into your signature, you go for it!

elona - way to go!! As long as you are careful that it doesn't make you slip into the 'well it didn't affect my weight loss then so I can afford to sneak a few extra bits every week' you'll be fine :) As that way leads to a slippery slope that I have been on, on more than a few occasions :-[ Have you thought of a non food way to reward yourself when you hit one of your mini targets? Maybe a trip for some new makeup or even a make up session, a day out somewhere? Might be something for you to think about and focus on :)

jaffa - aw hun, don't be down, it wasn't even a full week so it could be the scales hadn't caught up with your changing body? Muscle building will have a part to play but something which cheered me up when I read it was that as you build more muscle, the muscle itself actually uses more calories than fat does just by being there! So if you think of it, the muscle you build may weigh a little more but will burn off a little more too, so in time you could find it will be burning what you eat and then working on any stored 'fuel'. Keep your chin up and lets see what the future brings. At the end of the day remember that diets are much like clothes.... every diet doesn't suit every person, you just need to find the one that fits you and that you feel comfy with :)

Congrats. Velvet Glove ... not the ideal way to lose weight, but a great boost for you. :D

Thanks for the info. on S/World books ... must have a look.

Started back on S/World diet this week and lost 3lbs., so very pleased (though it is Christmas excess ::)).  It never fails to amaze me how much I can eat on this "diet" and still lose weight.  ;D

Just got to keep off the crisps and choccies now.  I'll still be allowing myself the odd Vodka and soda, but will try to steer clear of the red wine for a while (my downfall ::)).

    Good luck everyone.

No substitute for the antibiotics, but to soothe that killer cough which is doing the rounds I really do recommend the Yogi brand Throat Comfort tea bags which you can get in good wholefood / health food shops. Our treasurer came into work hacking, and saying she had had this cough on and of since Christmas, and the best thing she had found was Throat Comfort tea bags sold to her by the Pharmacist on Gozo. She was DELIGHTED when I told her they were available in the UK and even more thrilled when I had to go out at lunchtime and came back with a boxful! So there is even a professional recommendation for them.

And thanks for all the info about the SW books, very helpful!

I'm still on the way down but it's very slow or up and down and I do tend to hop on the scales more than once a week. :( But at least I don't panic if it's up a bit, just make sure it stays under the stone mark I managed to hit before Christmas!
