    This is their new website

    www
    .newcar-deals.
    com/

Apparently on their home page they are a member of the Retail Motor Industry Federation! But their reviews take you to the Autofinders Review page.
  • Not taken up the offer just in case. No written confirmation as yet but would imagine that might be something for credit card company to look into. I was going to ring them next week and see. Going to start from scratch again closer to home.
  • When I rang rmi they said they had previously had no problems with the company until the last few days, the only thing she new was that company had recently changed management... So let's hope this is the mix up and priblems have occurred with changing the name and this is the new company being set up and maybe our orders will be completed...? who knows... Seems strange if they were dodgy to keep same address and phone number, knowing we will all keep ringing to hassle them... And you would think this 'new' company would want to get in touch to get our business..... All a bit odd...! After looking over their web page there is a 2nd address on there also for somewhere in Sheffield?? Will contact rmi again and see what they say about this new company
  • What happens if you fill out a V62 and send it to DVLA and tick the box "trader or dealer has not provided the V5C yet? I was going to try this, it costs £25 but might be an easier solution than chasing Autofinder/newcsr-deals and/or ex staff?

That's what I'm doing. I suspect there is a big risk that you won't be 'first registered keeper'. At this point I will accept that to have unambiguous title of the car.

    Update:

[TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] Apparently, Autofinders are "in difficulties" and a letter will be sent to their customers in the next few days informing them of the current situation.

Wait and see I guess - but I'm contacting my Credit Card company now.

Beware of Autobuyers. I bought a new car from them in December last year. Communication was rubbish then and I ended up talking to and emailing Paul Thorley, who is their MD.

My problem However, I haven't received a V5 from DVLA and it appears now that my car is registered in someone elses name. This problem stems from a practice known as trade registration or pre registration where a company will take advantage of fleet discounts to deliver a car at a cheaper price. There is nothing wrong with this. However, clause 9.2 of Autobuyer's terms and conditions state that all cars will be first registrations, which is what I was expecting, not unreasonably.

My advice would be to steer clear. Autofinders don't see this as their problem and won't provide any information that will help. Paul Thorley would rather just stick his head in the sand than do anything practical. Two directors have resigned this week according to Company's House.

I'm not the only one out there that has experienced problems like this so check out some of the other review sites. Looks like a Company that started out well but has hit trouble.

same here, bought a kia sportage from them Sep2011, supposed to be 1st reg owner, but end up as 2nd owner on V5, all i have was a letter from Paul Thorley apologised and confirmed that I was the 1st reg owner due to their supplier admin error. I am having none of it, went to CA in March2012 for advise, and i am still waiting from autofinders to reply( 1st class recorded delivery took over a month for them to received), but since then they have update the website stating they only can suppy KIA in pre reg car.
    steer clear from these people.

Their offices in Chesterfield are indeed closed and shuttered with no sign of life. However, their registered office is now in Sheffield at 5 Westbrook Court, Sharrow Vale Road, Sheffield, S11 8YZ - looks like it might be a solicitors or accountants address. Paul Thorley is still a director and he has always been the main man through their various guises and locations.
