Another mug here!

Ordered a Qashqai late Feb 20012, I knew there was approx. 3 months waiting list, so wasn't too concerned when the weeks rolled on.
On the 24th May I was informed that the vehicle was at the dealers and when would I be available for delivery (transported). I also asked about the spec as there was a bit of confusion earlier on.
That was the last I heard from them so phoned them up at the end of May and kept getting fobbed off ,and being lied to. Eventually got one of the directors on the phone and blatantly asked him if his company was in trouble, he said absolutely not. I told them I would be back in touch after a holiday I was going on, (2 weeks).
When I came back from holiday I found that they had tried to phone me 5 times on the 19/06/2012 .
Tried phoning and sent loads of e-mails but no reply. Just found out that two board members left the company on 20/06/2012.
Checked with companies house and according to them the company is still trading, the also have a good credit rating, so why the office is empty I don’t know.
I’ll be getting in touch with my credit card company tomorrow.

Check the small print as I remember there was something about incurring costs if cancelling! If they suddenly come back next week due a staff upset you might be liable to these costs!

Their ebay name is Autofinders. Can't post a link as I'm a newbie but they're flogging their phone system so the answer machine might not work for too much longer.

Not looking good at all....

:(

Thanks for that. However, the original Ts & Cs state that if the car isn't available within 12 weeks of the original estimate I will be invited to cancel. This is so passed this deadline it is silly - and I've never been contacted anyway.

Not the smoothest of processes to be honest - IMHO.

Beware of Autobuyers. I bought a new car from them in December last year. Communication was rubbish then and I ended up talking to and emailing Paul Thorley, who is their MD.

My problem However, I haven't received a V5 from DVLA and it appears now that my car is registered in someone elses name. This problem stems from a practice known as trade registration or pre registration where a company will take advantage of fleet discounts to deliver a car at a cheaper price. There is nothing wrong with this. However, clause 9.2 of Autobuyer's terms and conditions state that all cars will be first registrations, which is what I was expecting, not unreasonably.

My advice would be to steer clear. Autofinders don't see this as their problem and won't provide any information that will help. Paul Thorley would rather just stick his head in the sand than do anything practical. Two directors have resigned this week according to Company's House.

I'm not the only one out there that has experienced problems like this so check out some of the other review sites. Looks like a Company that started out well but has hit trouble.

But this thread isn't about Autobuyers is it!

Everyone, Autofinders are advertised quite heavily over on Honestjohn.co.uk, might be worth looking on their forums to see if there are any problems.

Ordered a car on 30th March.
They rang me on the 19th June to say it was with them and when could I pick it up. Despite it 'being there' they couldn't tell me the reg number so I agreed to go and get it today as long as they advised me of reg number first so I could insure it.
Absolutely no contact since last Thursday despite multiple calls, messages and emails.
I have spoken to Citizens Advice in Chesterfield who have been very helpful plus a few lawyers and all of them are confident that irrespective of what has happened with the company (a local Kia dealer says the place looks shut and the local chat is that it has folded), they are not fulfilling their contract by failing to keep me up to date with the sale (my web customer area hasn't been updated since the day after ordering) and by failing to allow me to collect the vehicle by witholding the registration number from me - and that is with documented evidence of me doing my utmost to contact them.
They all say that if I cancel the contract and do not authorise any other payment via credit card that there is no chance the company will have any comeback. Not quite sure yet regarding the deposit until we know what exactly has happened to them but to be honest, I just do not want to buy a car from them any more so loss of a deposit would be ok, not good but better than buying the car now I have heard so much other stuff about them.
I have been advised to send them an email informing them that I don';t authorise any further payments and that I am cancelling my contract under Basic COntract Law and the Distance Selling Regulations (Clause 10 and 11) and follow this on with a recorded delivery letter saying the same and asking for a reply within 7 working days. Hope this helps a bit.

I was also phoned on the 19th June to advise my car is ready. I am going to go tomorrow to see if they are there. I am then getting back in touch with Trading Standards for advice how to cancel my contract and get my £600 deposit back!

You are quite right. Caught in a moment of severe dixlexia. It is, of course Autofinders. A ps though, the post delivered a V5 this evening registered in my name as first owner. Hassling the MD seems to have had a positive result. They obviously have some serious problems though

Hi Guys

Just had a thought, if these cars had been actually ordered the manufacturer must of had an order! Maybe if we contact the manuafaturer they may know something about it or have a car waiting to be delivered to them!

I couldnt access the online vehicle update due to my login and password not working. Did anyone get access to this if so did it give a name of the supplying dealer etc?

I am going to ring Nissan UK in the morning and see what comes up and I will let you know. I am not holding any hopes on anything but it might be worth a try.

I am holding off claiming back my deposit until I have definately heard they have folded. Dont want them popping up again in a couple of weeks within the 12 week period and ending up with a big fine.

Autofinders also list that they are linked to Retail motor industry

www. RMIF .co .uk (remove spaces as I am a new poster and cant post web addresses)

My wife called them today and said that their membership with them lapses tomorrow. They have also tried contacting them but failed. They also said they have had 6 complaints over the last 48hrs about the company with the same issues.

Autofinders doesnt bring up anything on ebay! Maybe we should stick a stupidly high bid on the items and win them. When they request the money we finally have a contact with them!!!!!

Cheers

Neal
