Hi SCP - I completely understand the DH arrrggh moment.. I thought I was the only one experiencing this..so did not post about it ...:D

So looks like the 3 of them will have each other for company in the DH bubble :rotfl: As long as the  is free I am ok with that..

Anyway we had a discussion about this last month - and have agreed that the day before his pay day whatever he has left that has not been spent I can have that ( technically I don''t but you get what I mean), so far ( oh ok last month then ) he transferred the money over without being asked ( and trust me that is a big thing) and has even mentioned it about this month.. I think he feels like he is making a HUGE difference to the debts, so does it feeling all manly :rotfl: and in control..Well if it keeps him happy...it works for us..but hey may not work for everyone..

Hope everything else is good xx

Hey thanks Joee :) what a lovely comment! Congrats on having your LBM, have you started a diary? I've found it really helps keep me going xx

    Hey SCP,

You are so welcome and thank you for yours :) I have started a diary it keeps you going and focused doesn't it! :)

  • I think you need to be a control freak to get thru something like this tbh. I'm exactly the same. I interrogate him if I spot an unrecognized outgoing on the account. But it's what I have to do to make him realise that this is what paying off debt as quickly as possible means.

Where does money come from if your oh does need extra due to poor planning?

Lovely to hear that someone else does it too - I feel more like his mother sometimes but seriously...£50 on lunch?! I still haven't come down off the ceiling from that one. Saying that I should be grateful for small mercies - thank god they hadn't gone out for dinner:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Any extra money he needs just comes from whats left of my redundancy payment as we have no other money at all (I haven't been paid from new job yet) so effectively reduces what we will have left to pay off debt. I'm with you, I want it gone asap!

Good on your DH for getting to the end of the month with any £ left. The chances of that happening here are slim to none I think :) DH is always over his overdraft/credit limit/you get the idea.

Paid an extra £70 to HSBC yesterday to get that back within its limit. Not much else to report today.

Oooh Joee, I am off to find your diary and subscribe, yay! :T

  • It's really difficult when one of you is constantly thinking about debt repayment and the other doesn't really have much insight into it. I have a real issue with DH not understanding the concept of 'no money left in the account' and then asking me if he can buy this, that and everything else. Surely we can afford a costa? Surely we can afford a bit of chocolate? It does my absolute head in and, frankly, if he acts like a child constantly asking expecting a differnt answer, then I'll treat him like one.

They really are infuriating at times.

Isn't that the definition of insanity, constantly asking the same question and expecting a different answer :rotfl:Men! What gets me is it's not as if DH doesn't realise WE OWE £50k (well, £43k now ;)) We've talked about it til we're blue in the face! Thankfully the redundancy is in an account in my name so he can't blow that too!!!

Have you ever thought of letting your OH's running the finances? Let them see the full picture in black and white.

I keep hearing of what they are doing, but is it any different from what they were doing before YOU had your LBM? And are all your problems solely down to them or are they paying for your errors in the past?

Rome wasn't built in a day and mentalities don't change that quickly either
