Just had a thought while in the shower... instead of paying all of remaining savings to mbna I think we should keep some back, maybe £500 or £1000 as an emergency fund. We don't have any other spare pennies once that money is gone and would be up that creek if anything happened!
Obviously only to be used in real 'genuine' emergencies and not 'OMG, Dune are having a sale' type emergencieshmm...

Yep, I think it's a good idea too
we've got an emergency fund that's at £1,000.00 at the moment, just in case something drastic happens

Yep, once reformed we make good savers apparently :AInstead of obsessing about what I can buy on the credit card I am currently obsessing over the NSD challenge! Not doing quite as well though
It's great finally being back at work and using my brain again :jit was on the verge of turning to mush after one too many jeremy kyle episodes- sod the lie detector, I can spot a fibber at fifty paces I've seen so many :rotfl:!!!
Been thrown in at the deep end with an exciting but really messy project to manage at work. Not done anything like it before so thats keeping me busy.
Must pay that extra £142 jsa straight to mbna tonight before I forget. Oh and work really need me to get a car too which is a huge pain as I love not having the hassle and expense!!! Our plan is to look at leasing - never used it before but sounds like it might be a good option?

Hey Squidge, i think they do. Someone i work with has just leased a car for 3 yrs and was credit checked first. Is this the sort of lease you mean?DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0

Forgot to say there are also a lot of 'clauses' with leasing a car so be careful....for example, you have to declare how many miles you're going to do in the given lease period-for example 10,000 if you go over this then you are charged a per mile rate thereafter added to the finance at the end.
They also tell you where you must get new tyres etc so it's not all that straightforward...

Thanks! Yep, but maybe for a shorter period or *ideally* one on a rolling basis where you can give the car back when you've had enough! Don't know if such a type exists though or if I just made it upI'm sure no-one would touch us with a barge pole with all of our debt anyway! Carp.

I think you lease for say 3 yrs then at the end of it you give it back and swap for another one OR give back OR pay whatever is left on the car and keep it
That's what they told me anyways
You're right about the check thing though, that might be the sticking point
When we moved (a long time ago) we had no ££ so ended up buying the cheapest car we could find £250 :rotfl: it lasted a yr and was brilliant on fuel:D is this a possibility?DEBT FREE AND PROUD'Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt'0
