The unthinkable has happened...redundancy

  • Thanks Aamberle will update tonight!

My overwhelming thought at the moment is what will I worry/think about all the time about once the debt is gone? :rotfl:It's been here for so long I've gotten quite used to it...ridiculous I know! So now I'm worrying about what I'll worry about once my main worry is gone :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I need to get. a. grip.

Perhaps the office will help distract me!

  • Well first day wasn't as bad as expected :jeveryone was lovely and friendly and most of the day was taken up with introductions etc. Also, found out pay day is on the 25th so only 3 weeks to go til my first pay cheque. Not that I am counting :D Relieved that day 1 is over, real work to do as of tomorrow office-smiley.gifI think I am going to like it there :)
Managed NSD #1 today too as took packed lunch in. Finally going to bite the bullet now and pay a chunk off the mbna balance  then to re-do my snowball calculator!

Thanks Sista :) Just paid £5k off mbna in addition to £300 min. payment and it feels A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Way better than any dumb designer bag ;) Why oh why did I not have this lightbulb moment years ago?! I honestly think that being made redundant could be the best thing to ever happen as it's woken me up to what a fool I've been in the past and brought me here to you lovely people and your wise words, just want to give you all a big group-hug1-smiley.giffor all the help you've given me. I know for sure in the past I would've squandered every single penny of that money and more. Will pay the rest to mbna once I get paid at the end of the month but keeping it back for now just in case work mess up on payroll or something.

Re-did the snowball calc. based on just the credit cards (as it didnt seem to cope well with the loans) and it says we could be free of those in 16m based on an overpayment of £500p.m. Not sure how accurate this is as I don't think the mint APR is correct - unsurprisingly I can't find it printed anywhere on the statement :rotfl:but this would leave only the loans and overdrafts to focus on then!

    Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :D

  • It really is a fabby feeling mummy! They do say that us obsessive spenders make the best savers in the end so fingers crossed its true :D

Spoke to the job centre again today and they have finally released the payment for my JSA almost a month after I initally made contact and now that I have a job  Oh well, mustn't complain as that's another £142 to throw at the debt once it comes through. Other than that pretty uneventful day. Mbna payment hasnt cleared, grrrr!

Couldn't manage a NSD as run out of tea bags and that is one thing I CANNOT compromise on! Spent a fiver in t**co on tea and cereal - starting to think this is why my grocery shop was so cheap...I forgot half the essentials :rotfl:

Some friends have invited themselves round at the weekend so will be nice to have some company as DH is away. Also he really does need to get spectacles now so will point him in the direction of spekyfoureyes I think.
