Hi SCP - You need to look on the positive side..you did not go for the mac.:T A few months ago you may have, so look at it as a 500+ saving not a debt... ( could of been over £1k and was less that £500)
I think you are doing amazingly - Keep it up
PS - I will say this quietly..so no one hears me..if you return the "offending item" purchased last week and still in the bag..you can take the refund off the costs of your new laptop and you will have got an even better deal :rotfl:
That's how my logic would work anyway:D XX2012 The year I started dealing with my debts.

Hi All!!
I am ok thank you Aamberle, still hereStill feeling a bit demotivated after the initial flurry of excitement and making changes. We seem to be haemmoraging money at the moment - only on essentials (dog food, laptop, I needed a presciption - £7.65 , toiletries, grocery shop was £48 this week as had emptied the freezer but thankfully heaps of things we usually buy were on two for one) just feel guilty for spending at all these days.
Back to work on Monday so hopefully that will help motivationLooking forward to the start of July so I can properly track spends for a full month! How tragic that this gets me excited :rotfl:
I have a dilemma myself now - once I get back to work I obviously want to pay the remaining redundancy money towards the debt. There should be enough to pay either a) mbna in full (highest apr) or b) halifax and hsbc in full. I'm thinking b) as although mbna is higher apr I think it will be a huge psycological boost to clear 2 cards as opposed to just 1. However the mbna minimum payment is twice the minimum payment each month of the other 2 combined so quite a lot to find on my reduced salary. Am I being stupid?
On a positive note, the house has never looked tidier so at least I can relax with a cup of teaThe only job left is to sort through the paperwork in the office and get it all filed/shredded/dealt with/in order (I was another one that didn't always open the statements). That can wait til tomorrow.
Hope everyone else is having a great week

Very bad evening yesterday. Caught DH, credit card in hand in front of the tv about to renew his Xbox live subscription for about £50!! The best part is, his card is already up to the limit and that would've taken it over meaning more charges  Was so cross I snapped and caused a huge row. DH has now gone to work without saying a word this morning. Whoops.[STRIKE]£49,129[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£[/STRIKE][STRIKE]43,012 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£42,209[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£40,823[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£39,866[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£25,960[/STRIKE]£21,338 _party_

Men always seems to grump for ages - you did the right thing! Ask him to sell enough things to earn the money for his live subscription thingy, then he can pay for itBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Wow - check you out!!!! You're like a one-woman whirlwind! HUGE congratulations on the new job. When do you start?squidgychesspiece wrote: »MummyDrusilla wrote: »Also, check out my sig for how my snowball dfd has changed.
:hello:MD, and congratulations on your awesome progress! I hope we can reduce our DFD too. hey what does the part in brackets mean on your signature? I've decided I am going to aim for 38 months. Not to be totally debt free but to have just the one loan left at £213 p.m which would be manageable. I am starting to actually believe this is do-able!!!!
The date in brackets on the top figure is when I started debt-busting, the date in brackets on the bottom figure is when I last updated the DFD. Keeps me motivated!Debt free in
