I used https://www.regalfish.co.uk for the first time a fortnight ago. Up to now hubby and I have tried fishcakes, prawns, haddock and sea bass and they are very tasty. I would definitely recommend them. HTH

I've had fish from www.tregidasmokehouse.co.uk via Abel & Cole which has been good and they do online orders direct. Also fish from www.griggsofhythe.com via Foodari which was also good. Grigg's was one of Rick Stein's food heroes in a TV series and they do online sales direct too.
  • I recently did a £60 shop at Farmisonhttp://http://www.farmison.com/ buying 5lbs of meat, 4 duck legs, mince, beef shin, plus a veg box. Both of which have exceeded my expectations.
I am definitely putting them on the list of Independents from which to buy from.

  • Previously I did a shop at Donald Russell via Amazon. Brought some beef mince and it is/was the best I have ever tasted bar Farmison.

  • I am very much evaluating Independents and might look into local butchers as well, there are some good one's.
Riverford is still there but now part of a wider range of independents.
I have started a 'Chilli Sauce Tour' and purchased 3 chilli sauce from an independent shop, this Tour promises to not only get me shopping at many reputable independent outlets but also to widen my tastebuds by introducing me to a wide variety of delicious chilli sauces which are a world away from anything tesco etc can offer me, bar exceptions.
Flour tour is in progress, Bakery bits purchase of white flour @£2.60 per kg the flour is organic and looks excellent and is apparently able to be used for pastry as well as bread so a first! I plan to get wholemeal flour from them ditto.
Supermarket shopping is aiming to be minimal and captialising on their strengths ie candia long life milk which I buy in bulk.

Norfolkvegbox deliver in Norfolk, no set box - you just need to spend £7.50 for free delivery.

Quality been good up to now - his Braeburn apples are so crisp and juicy - a real treat!

You can find them on Facebook if you are interested. He is a nice chap, I think he has his own farm, he also has some pork products and is going to be stocking goat as well. He does eggs, local chutneys as well as the veg and oils.

  • So far 1st Chilli Sauce shop I think Chillipepperpetes for some divine sauces. Theres loads of online outlets so I am in for a treat.
Flour tour so far: doves, bacheldre, now the divine Bakery bits Priory flour sublime.
Supermarket shops are minimising rather than totally excludin, unfortunately I still manage to spend rather a lot when i am there so must bring a list and be strict about it unless something crops up that really hits the spot.
Farmison is totally fab, £60 + for a shop for half a month or more is bargain IMHO and I am becoming a fan.
Waitrose and ocado for supermarket things, my family have great taste and use asda so maybe I am missing something and or asda is up to mr t exploiting game.
Independents online have a nicer feel than the supermarkets with their various online and offline surveillance systems.

  • Trying to reduce the amount of rubbish supermarket meat we eat, have been ordering from Roaming Roosters (can't link as new user, first result on Google) for a couple of months and very impressed with the service and quality.
  • There are still some independent supermarkets left! Near me (Dorset/Somerset border) is a fab small-medium supermarket that is family owned (started as a bakery in 1851) has its own cafe, stocks plenty of local fresh produce & other bits and uses Nisa brand for things like tins and dry goods alongside the niche brands. They also do home delivery for those not able to carry bags home. A bit more expensive than Mr T? of course *but* they employ many local people at a fair rate and with good conditions. Can recommend this shop if you're within 30 min drive!

So please remember that *some* supermarkets are good guys!
