How to avoid the Supermarkets, alternative online food retailers

If you live in E Sussex or on their bus route from Kent here's another independent supermarket. https://www.jempsons.com Not cheap, not much organic, some local, bread really is made on premises as are sausages.

I love this in principle - i HATE shopping in supermarkets.

Just a thought though; are any of these places actually cheap? I'm a student and we live on a pretty tight budget and i'd like to find somewhere online that sells cheap meat and veg if possible?

I know there are places for dirt cheap stuff online but we don't eat much out of tins and deals on things like tinned pepsi or canned meat don't really interest me as i would never buy them anyway. We try to grow our own veg which is tasty, truly organic and cheap as chips, but getting a constant supply is very hard.

Any advice? Or is 'try local shops' the best bet? Cheers.

I don't know. I am apparently in the support grp so full benefits. I have shopped at tesco for years but have had to throw aways hundreds of pounds worth of food. Believe it or not indpendents better. Mine are comparable with waitrose ocado. still good value for money.
