I'm using Ocado as well as Abel & Cole now. I got 50% off an annual delivery pass and shopping lots of offers I save £5-£15 per shop. Ocado own label organic veg are cheaper than Waitrose organic.

I went to our local Indian deli this morning (called Exotica). Having been fed up with Mr T's prices, pleasantly finding that if you buy larger bags of spices and herbs, the savings can be substantial- e.g Oregano 100 grams cost 89p, Paprika 300 grams cost £1.99 and same amout of flaked almonds £2.99. Even small 100 gram bags were at most 99p, so still saving on supermarkets. They also had lovely sauces and stuff like frozen fresh ginger, which wil mean I won't be throwing any ginger away anymore. Anyone else got any similar shops close them?
  • Everytime I go into Tesco I can sense their exploitation of me hence now at least a Mixed Shop: best items for me at Tesco; Candia Milk Long Life, and other items minimal, Shops at Waitrose* (use by dates concern though favourite Supermarket) and Riverford.
I need to do a £50 shop at Farmison and or Natoora to add to Riverford for a new experience.
Spice Market online advised by @edwardia is also something to look into along with Independents from Town Centre Butchers to getting Fish Boxes from Loch Fyne.

  • On the Non-Grocery Front I purchased some lovely Hunter Huntress Classic Green Posh Wellies £72 in Fishing Specialist rather than £85 from liked Williams and Griffin which is part of Fenwicks Bond Street.
At least my money is going 1) bearded Proprieter whose Business it is 2) Hunter itself and NOT into the hands of Todays Robber Barons the thieving overpaid undeserving FTSE Millionaires.

  • One would hope so.
I consider it bad form if they don't.

We will have to wait and see what this means for the company. I certainly would watch them carefully from now on.

  • one would always wish they get the best finance arrangements for long term sustainability and complete independence so they can make the right decisons for their company.
Sovereign Wealth Funds, hedge funds etc mean money is disproportionately the possession of a right wing neoliberal nasty tory elite.

Fortnum and Mason is owned by Wittington Investments Ltd and nearly 80% of that is owned by the charitable foundation of the Canadian Weston family which owns Selfridges and Fortnum and Mason just goes on seemingly the same forever..

Abel & Cole hasn't been owned by Messrs Abel & Cole for awhile now I think though.
  • @edwardia these business facts are always good to know.
