I was once stupid enough to leave my car in a residential street I didn't live in for a couple of days.
You should have seen the state of my wing mirrors and kerbside paintwork when I got back.0 -

We live in a very small cul de sac and parking is a nightmare. We have one lady over the road that tries to stop people parking opposite her drive because it makes it difficult for her to get out (I am not sure why because they would be enough room to get a minibus out never mind her tiny car).
She has even had the council and local police involved and they have been out to view the road and made it clear she has no grounds for complaint. So I really wouldn't waste your time on it and become known as the awkward one in the street as this lady now is.0 -
I've said its annoying not im hard up because of it. I currently rent from the council while trying to save and our new house will have a drive. Believe me I wouldnt be living here if I could afford not to. I know some people don't drive and struggle with shopping, but thats their choice.
Yes they have annoyed us before as they scratched my oh car and denied it, even though the red scratch on our car matched with the blue scratch on theirs and the police wouldn't look into it as we hadnt witnessed it.
I was asking for people to have a go at me for not appreciating I have a car, if you habe nothing nice to say don't say anything,Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0 -
If its not your choice to live where you live why would you think its other people's choice not to have a car?
Sometimes life can just be annoying, not a lot you can do about it.0 -
Would I say anything?
If it bothered me as much as it seems to bother you then yes I would.
You could very politely ask them if it would be possible for them to park the other car on their drive as you are finding it difficult to park yourself etc.
They may surprise you and agree to do it purely because they have been asked.0 -

I understand where you are coming from.
The idea we can't complain or expect any consideration from neighbours unless it's on the scale of starving kids or an earthquake is hitting our street, is ridiculous!
Yes it is no biggy in the grand scheme of things but it's an inconvenience caused by someone else and you have every right to ask for advice.
All you can do is appeal to their better nature though. When are they parking the cars - is it always when you are out?0 -
Cause I needed somewhere to live with my daughter, after splitting with my oh and living in my mum's box room with my daughter for 4 months I took the best house the council offered me. Is that good enough for you!
Majority if people I know who don't have a car either just can't be bothered learning or don't work. That isn't even what the post was about, if you wouldn't say anything then fine.Mummy to Isabella - March 2008 and Daisie - September 2012:A - November 2011 (mc)0 -
Gosh, some harsh comments here!
It is very inconsiderate to 'invite' others to use the street for long-term parking, in view of the limited space.
However, unless the OP can bring the subject up in a friendly, non-threatening was, i suppose she'll have to live with it.
BTW: DD lives not too far from the airport we use, in a cul de sac. we wouldn't dream of hogging valuable space while we holiday.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

I don't think they are even looked for. You park on a public street, you take your chances.
If I'd paid someone to park in their street and came back to a damaged car I'd be pretty miffed. They wouldn't be getting any money out of me, that is for sure.0
