would you say anything?

We live on a quiet street which has limited parking. Some houses have drives and others including mine dont. Our next door but one neighbours makes a habit of letting friends leave their cars on our street and then dropping them at the airport. They have a drive so don't notice/care how inconvenient it is for everyone when they park in someone's space the knock on it has on everyone else.

It really winding me up having to lug bags of shopping up the street while trying to get my daughter in the house.

Would you say anything?

No. Because it isn't your space. If it's a public road anyone can park there. The only way to get a private guaranteed parking space is to buy one.

I do understand why this is annoying, but I can't imagine your neighbour would be all that sympathetic to be honest, as they aren't doing anything wrong. As for the inconvenience, well, lots of people don't have a car at all and manage. You are only walking a short distance along a street. It's irritating rather than a dreadful thing to have to do.

I wonder how much money your neighbour is making from this?

You could always report the cars as being abandoned!

You can't 'park in someone's space' on a public road. Unless there are double yellow lines or parking restrictions they aren't doing anything wrong.

Why do so many people have the mistaken idea that they have some claim to the patch of road outside their house?

I think its more to do with common courteousy , rather than it being a right.
We never park on our neighbours fronts, its a mutual respect we all have for each other.

Maybe you could pop her a polite request through her door.

I know I have no right to the road. My issue is that they don't care about anybody else. Lot of people on the street have young kids which is a struggle especially when pregnant. These are a couple with no kids. Im annoy they don't seem to think about other people. I would park the car on my drive and park my own across the bottom of it. Or just say to the person seen as I'm driving you to the airport anyway I'll just pick you up.

I was also wondering if they are making money from it

I think it depends what they are like. If you know they are going to be annoyed or abusive or unhappy about you telling them this, then you saying something may just make it worse.
If they are nice people and will listen to what you have to say and take it into consideration, then saying something might help, especially if you give an alternative like them putting the cars on their drive and parking in front of them.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

If having a drive is so crucial, maybe you should have bought a house that had one? Plenty of people don't, plenty of people don't have cars! Walking a few extra yards with your shopping or your car seat is so far from being a hardship of any kind that its laughable.

Have they done something else that is winding you up? Is it an ignorant lack of consideration or a wilful act designed to annoy their neighbours? - I would have thought the former.

I have a neighbour that I find annoying - he has loud conversations (and I mean mega-phone loud) on his mobile phone in the street when I am trying to work from home, also puts his bins out before collection day and the foxes have a field day with it, so the rest of us end up with his litter on our driveways. I personally think he's too thick to be malicious ;).

I can see they are being a bit thoughtless, as you say they could park the car on their drive and park across the bottom of it. I would mention it if parking is a problem generally, and suggest they do that. But nicely, if they won't change what they are doing then there's nothing you can do to force them.
