Hoarding...not just on TV

lir, you are lucky to have found one to move onto (well I could move onto Sisley but my purse won't let me!)
No luck about it, lots of Research and sniffing, and getting dh to sniff cards, then short listing to try on my skin.
I take scent VERY seriously, and this perfume, and the last, have a fairly unusual upbeat note in common, that only a handful of others do so the long list was not totally daunting.
I also keep a gentle rose note perfume in stock (not fussy which) because its nice on a summer day when many others are wearing brighter and greener or fresher citrusy notes (which I prefer in spring) and I always have a bottle of Toulouse violette scent, nothing fancy, but smells of home to me. I often wear it to bed.:o
If I were too rich for words I would have an extensive scent perfume (I do not feel like a signiture scent sort of person, but do like a limited palatte). It's not enough for me to like a scent I have to 'feel' it, to identify with its fragrance, to feel like I know the places it evokes and that I am the woman in the mood it wants to be worn by.

I know nothing about perfumes (ditto all things alcoholic), though I did work in a perfume factory when young - on the conveyerbelt, packing them up into their various boxes/packaging.
You got extra danger money of 1p an hour for a stint in the talc packing room.
DH is teasing me to distraction with vague promises to dispose of old unused clothes...but not actually doing it.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
My DH got rid of two jumpers today (1 that doesn't wash well and 1 that was bobbly and worn). All without prompting, so it will happen at some point BB.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Hi
We have a spaniel i make toys out of odd socks. I stuff old odd socks with socks. He likes to carry things about but dog toys never last 5 minutes before he had pulled stuffing all over the place. They are also reasonably strong for him to play tug.
The only thing i have to be careful of is not to hoard too many socks for this purpose!!:rotfl:0 -
Well today started well (!), youngest cat found her way into understairs cupboard which (is remarkably tidy) and helped herself to the megabag of catnip, carried it through the house via the tables sprinkling it as she went - so I now have 2 insane cats doing the
wall-of-death, and what looks like dried parsley garnish on everything (3rd cat is nip-resistant but she and the dog are being pounced on by the 2 hypers!) and am expecting the TV engineer soon!

Wow, I didn't realise people thought so much about perfume. I don't wear it at all but it's been interesting reading.0

Another non-perfume wearer here, but it is certainly intersting to read about the pleasure that people are taking in it; makes me wonder if I am missing out.
Today I have some time to myself as am on leave from my job. Doing various things and hanging out on MSE of course, but have decided to have a cull of the underwear. Whilst rootling for something else last night, I found new knicks still in their boxes so why the heck and I still using some of the things I am using (clean, but that is about all you can say for them. TMI, I know):o. So, I will show myself some self-respect by binning them.
I have also treated myself to a second bunch of flowers. Whooo, that's the second in 2012, and costing all of £2 which is what I'd be spending in 2 days on chocolate. I'm not going to tell anyone I've given up chocolate, not even myself, but I'm taking it one day at a time.
Better a buncha flowers than more fat on my person.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I also treated myself today. I had my wig chopped. I'm not a fan of the hairdresser but I have found a nice Emma and that's good enough for me. When we were skint and fat and messy we cut our own hair and I look back at photos of myself in my later 20's and early 30's and I don't look that great. so it's worth the few hundred quid I spend a year to have nice, short, well kept hair. I know not everyone is bothered about that but it makes a big difference to how I look - long hair is not for me!0

I used to love perfume, always wore YSL, not sure when I lost the urge, late in my awful marriage I think. But LIR's passion is infectious and I think when I have a moment I will try different perfumes to see if one is "me"...I like the idea of seasons too. I do have a bottle of Chno5 and an YSL, but had them years so not sure if they retain their perfume or not.
I am on the last leg of the living room, come to a halt because of stomach flu, not well at all. I am thinking what to do with the "bits" that I seem to accumulate, things like sellotape, antiseptic spray, bits and bobs that I need to hand but don't want to have on show. Think I may have to be even more ruthless.0 -
As with all things internet there are whole websites devoted to perfumes - so you can look up your YSL Byatt and see what "notes" it contained, then look for ones with some of those notes to try, (or chose to avoid those notes if they have unpleasant memories for you) rather than starting in a sea of fragrance
I hate the smell of vanilla and green tea, so know to avoid those types of smellYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0
