I am a reasonable mopper but I don't think it beats scrubbing, where the dirt is better removed IMO. I change water a lot more.
I also, and I know this is os sacreledge, do not use stardrops. I just do not like the smell. I like flash, but I also use house hold soap. (nicest smell, but flash is quicker) and I have been known to use washing up liquid.
I don't use stardrops either, for lino I use whatever's closest, for the wood I use yummy method almond yummy smelling delicious floor cleaner.0 -

I love almond scent. I hope I remember this when we get our wooden floors in.0 -

KICK!!!!!!!!!!!Hope that helped. I've been deliberately staying offline for most of the weekend to get some other stuff done (gardening, housework, reading books, making stuff) and it's worked a treat but I have awarded myself a little internet for good behaviour.
I've never bothered with a mop as I have nowhere to keep one and my rooms are so tiny that I do them on bended knees, rinsing and reversing out the door and drying as I go with old towelling squares, of which I have several, hemmed, which go thru the washer afterwards. That way I can give close personal attention to any icky bits but I appreciate people with normal-sized homes or physical limitations on kneeling or bending wouldn't find this viable.
I have Marley tiles (1970s vinyl jobbies) and clean them with scalding hot water and Tesco value cream cleanser. It works for me and costs pence.
I shall be allotmenteeing this afternoon and have imposed a new regime on myself; where I egreen waste which I can't process in the compost bin, I will bag it and get it off and into the green waste section of the tip on the way home each and every time. This is to avoid the unsightly habit of bags piling up on the lottie path, where they end up rain-sodden and colonised with slugs and snails and very gross. I only have a pushbike so can take one bag per trip to the tip, and I am keeping to my new rule.
Nothing on the path except the grass it's made of any me feet. New rules. New, improved GQ with added cleaning power and possibly Sparklex.
Great bargaineering with the IKEA voucher, val.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

It's a beautiful day here, colder but sunny so I have some washing on the line!
I also have a pile of stuff on the floor, the one armchair I have is cleared though. And I'm going through the pile and deciding what should happen to the items. I'm hoping for a clear floor before the end of the day. I did discover I have 3 bodywarmers, so put one in the car for emergencies or if I forget, one hanging on the door so I can wear as and when, and my lovely faux fur one is hanging on the line airing.
Organised my gloves, scarves and hats stock. Seem to have a fetish about scarves.
I'm not really feeling the lurve, doing all this, because I have a pressure headache. (DD invited sister to her place for the weekend and lied to me about it, so we haven't spoken for almost 3 days now, which is unheard of. She calls me 20 times a day at least). Trying to change my reaction/behaviour but it's not easy.
Anyway, as I said, it's a beautiful day and I have curtains and windows open!!
Sybil, hope you're okish. xx0 -
Inspired by a previous post and by GQ I have started on the office of doom.
It ain't quick thoughthank goodness for Doris Lessing serialisation on Radio 4 extra.
I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Full up from roast dinner. Still on with a washing frenzy due to lovely sunny weather.
Small box of recycling in the car to take tomorrow.
1 skirt gone. Old trainers gone. Confidential waste gone (little and often with this). Haven't done too much dehoarding but I am noticing that I am tackling small stuff earlier and more regularly so it is becoming part of normal household duties.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Thank you all for motivating (and kicking) me!
Have cleaned the duck houses, taken car for MOT (fail!) and returned a faulty skirt. OH has painted the top half of the downstairs loo walls but due to bad back can't manage the rest so off to finish that. Once I have drunk my tea...0
