Just be thankful that he wasn't putting them on your grave.
If I was shopping with my husband and he put flowers in the trolley, I'd ask him who they're for, or say 'ooh they're nice, are they for me for tomorrow?'.
Happy Birthday anyway

You might well be 60 and she's been giving you 2 years all this time.
If she told yu now that youre really 60 how upsetting would that be.
lolmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

OH put some flowers in the cart.
later he picks up the flowers and announces that he is taking some down MILs grave and some over to SILs.
I felt slapped!
later on I got two gorgeous bouquets from the kids.
I know its a bit petty - but I feel as if MIL and SIL got MY flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just so I understand correctly, your husband bought some flowers and gave them to his sister and also for their mothers grave ?
Your husband gave you a card and some money for your birthday, but you "felt slapped" because you didn't also get the flowers ?
Despite some of the other replies we don't know the full details - for all we know your husband and his sister may have been very close to their mother and she may have only passed away a week ago or it could have been the anniversary of her death or her birthday etc.
I am glad that you were pleased to receive flowers from your children.
If you think about it, your MIL also received flowers from her children.0 -
Looks like both are in graves so the response astonishes me even more!!!
Op,if someone bought flowers while I was present I wouldn't assume they were for me.If they went on graves I sure as heck wouldn't be gutted or annoyed.
You've had your kids coming in with cards and flowers, money and cards off your husband and mother-that's not a normal day.Just enjoy what you've had-it's more of a birthday than I get! Enjoy it and if you fancy more then treat yourself or plan something

If my OH (not just someone) was in the supermarket with me and they bought flowers, and it was my brithday tomorrow, I would automatically assume they were for me.
M. things are getting a bit confused, is SIL still alive or not, is it some sort of anniverasary of a death.
Forget it and move on, you really wouldnt want to exchange places with MIL would you. My OH wouldnt even think of puttin flowers on flowers on his mothers grave at any time.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Why not buy yourself some flowers with the money he gave you? :cool:0

I don't know if this story will make u laugh but I hope so.
My mum.., who I've never really seen eye to eye with (and hardly see) sent me something in the post. Knew it was for my birthday (turned 47 this year and for a few reasons I was a bit gloomy about it). Stupidly, I couldn't help feeling some anticipation over what she might have sent. BUT she didn't put a stamp on it, so I took an hour to travel to the local depot.., paid £2 and collected it. Got home and opened up a yukky card with the handwritten comment 'You're getting old".
Honestly, it was so inopportune (and I'd paid for it lol). For an instant I felt a bit smacked in the teeth, but the tactlessness of it hit my funny bone and I spent the rest of the day laughing over it with my 16 year old son. So it quite cheered me up in a funny way lol.
And no, there was no money and no prezzy lol. I didn't thank her for it though lol. I'm not that dishonest!0 -
It was my birthday too yesterday. It wasn't my OH who I was frustrated with, it was my 18 year old daughter! She has been saving really hard because her boyfriend is 18 soon, and she wanted to buy him an ipad ( refurbished) She finally ordered it on Friday, so I jokingly said , "Ooh, I can't wait to see what I get tomorrow then..." She went off in a big huff, "Why did you have to say that? I think you're going to be disappointed tomorrow now..."
Too bloomin' right I was! A quick trip to Primark and I got a beach bag, some perfume and a dressing gown. Not the actual things that I'm complaining about, or even the amount spent, but just the fact that she's thought about his present for so long and I get " Let's nip into town the day before, walk into Primark( even though she knows I have isues with people buying presents from there!) see what I can get for £20, and there you go..." Even my card was from a job lot that she bought from Card warehouse the other day, 7 for £1!0 -

She'd been saving hard for a present for her boyfriend. That is a lovely thing to do, especially at the age of 18, where she could have spent it on herself or pished it up the wall.
An 18th is a big deal, and it's her boyfriend, so of course his birthday was going to take a lot more thought and expense than yours.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
