a little bit miffed

It's my birthday today and while out shopping yesterday, OH put some flowers in the cart. I pretended not to notice of course!
this morning he gave me my card and some money. Very nice.
no flowers though even though I knew they were in the utility room.
later he picks up the flowers and announces that he is taking some down MILs grave and some over to SILs.
I felt slapped!
I absolutely love recieving flowers and my family know this - later on I got two gorgeous bouquets from the kids.
I know its a bit petty - but I feel as if MIL and SIL got MY flowers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, Meritaten, Happy Birthday to you.

I can understand yu being miffed. But if it had been me, I would have just presumed the flowers were for me anyway and just took them
and pt them in a vase.

A bit thoughtless of him but tell him it upset you a bit, and enjoy the rest of your birthday. xx
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Maybe he knew the kids were getting you some, and that three lots would be over the top.
  • That was thoughtless and unromantic of him. I would not be able to help myself from just telling him how it made me feel. Happy Birthday!

lol - not if you knew how many vases I have!

yes, I do occasionally buy myself flowers - but it isnt the same is it?

I think what is bugging me is that he usually only takes flowers down his mums grave (and over to SILs) on Special days such as christmas, easter and THEIR birthdays!

lmao - you are right - I should have!

Thanks for the 'happy birthdays' everyone! I can hardly believe I am 58 today! tho mum did upset me a bit - when I phoned to thank her for her card and money (a whopping £60!) she informed me it was a pound for each year! I am going to give her £2 change tomorrow! roflmao

    Happy birthday!

I would enquire whether this meant that I would be assured of him putting flowers on my grave for my birthday, as I wasn't getting them during my lifetime.

Maybe your husband had spoken to your kids and knew they were giving you flowers for your birthday, so didn't do so himself. Normally any gift given for a birthday is a surprise. As you were with him when he bought them, I should think he didn't consider you would think they were for you.

I doubt very much that he meant to hurt your feelings, he sounds like a thoughtful type to buy flowers for a grave and your SIL. Hope you have had a very special day and enjoyed celebrating your birthday with your family.
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.

    Happy Birthday.

(When you cook tomorrow's dinner, put his out for the neighbours dog/cat!) :D

Tell him you saw a hungry cat/dog :D
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!
