Wobbling off your pushbike is very different to lifting a lid. The cup was not on 2 wheels nor moving....all I wanted was a bloody coffee with a sugar in it!

I'm really not sure what you think I'm doing?? All I want to do is email them to tell them there may be a problem with the design of the lids - I don't want any money, I don't want anything other than for them to know the problem.

    Hi all,

Today I went to Mcdonalds to get a latte with my son and after paying for it I went to put some sugar in it. When I tried to take the lid off it cut my finger. I had to ask the staff for a plaster as it was bleeding and I had to fill out an incident form....basically the manager told me to email Mcdonalds outlining what happened and I can't find an email address for them can anyone help?

    Many thanks

It is perfectly resonable to follow the complaint procedure set out by the manager.

It sounds like the OP used a product as it was intended and cut herself. This could happen to any other costumer and to there own staff. Sometimes a company can use these small complaints to improve. A simple re-shaping of the plastic lid could prevent this from happening again.

emma don't feed the trolls, not worth wasting your time replying to those who just enjoy winding you up.

You know you are doing the right thing, you have a sense of responsibility towards other customers that may cut themselves, that's what matters. And if these silly people here are putting you off making a complaint, think of the little fingers that lift those lids all the time and could get hurt :)
Don't just tell them, complain about it, it should not happen. As I said complaints are how companies become aware of issues, if they don't know they can't do anything about it.

OP...Escalate and complain via email to the CEO, McDonalds UK. I think;) that her first name is Jill. I suggest you wait 3 working days for a response.

To find the email address, I suggest you do a google search with 'ceoemail macdonald' and see what you get back. If you are lucky;), select the 1st entry that is displayed and then do a search for mcdonalds and see what you get.;)

    Good luck and HTHs.

Wont someone think of the children....

Little fingers I doubt would be drinking lattes.
Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.

Don't you think of the lids was so dangerous, a company using millions of them every single year would have realised by now and changed them? The fact is this will be an isolated incident.

Is it unfortunate? yes. Is it complaint worthy? no.

It has already been likened to a paper cut, which imo is a very good comparison, but you wouldn't demand paper manufacturers make paper thicker would you!

I thought the hole that you drank through, was the hole you pour the tiny sachet of sugar through, aren't the sugars in thin sachets for people to do just that.

See many people lifting the lid of their drinks to put sugar in, never known anyone to cut themselves though.

I would say you will get an apology and a voucher from Mcdonalds if you write to them. I know a few people who have and they have always been courteous in their replies.

I think as arcon says though they serve millions of these drinks every week and you can bet that 99.99% of them have lids that do not cut fingers.

It really is an isolated incident, but I guess they could have a batch of faulty lids, but I would hope that the manager of the store would withdraw the lids and inform head office if numerous people were cutting themselves.

I personally wouldn't complain, but that is mostly cause I couldn't be bothered to.

I think that sums it up quite well. If it's a one off they won't take much notice, if it's a problem they will do something about it. If nobody tells them they'll never know if they have a problem.
