Try keeping bananas in the fridge when you buy them . I always do this.
This was a tip from my friend in Australia with their hot weather.
Then take a couple out each day for eating. The skin might go a bit darker but the inside is nice and firm and doesn't get mushy as it does in the dish.0 -
You don't have to peel them just stick them into a polybag and into the freezer. When you need some for a banana cake or a milkshake just get them out and let them start to defrost for about 1/2 hour then chop the end off and squeeze them out into the mixer and use as normal. I say use a polybag cos when they are frozen they become slippery b*****s to try and hold onto! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Don't remember the name of the recipe but you can put bananas inside a slit chicken breast, wrap in bacon and lie them on a bed of sweetcorn in an oven dish and pour some cream over it. Then cover and cook in the oven for half an hour or so. I got it from a Jamie Oliver book but apparently it is quite a famous recipe.0

Slice the bananas, mix in with some hot custard. Leave in the fridge to set. Yum

Banana Nice Cream
Similar to what others have said - freeze the bananas in 1 inch chunks, then when you want to use them blend them up with a little bit of milk or water. It might be best to let them defrost *slightly* before you blend them so you don't kill the motor. It's a lovely, tasty, healthy alternative to ice cream, and if you use very ripe bananas then it's also very sweet. (And very addictive).
And if you want a real treat, add a tablespoon or two of peanut butter to the blender.
Or . . . blend very ripe bananas up with mango and spoon the mixture into a prepared sweet pie crust. Stick it in the freezer, and then then put it in the fridge for half an hour before you want to serve it. It's also nice if you put sliced bananas in the bottom before you spoon the filling in, and if you top it with other sliced fruit you have on hand (strawberries, kiwis . . )
Or . . . use mashed bananas as a fat or egg replacer in some baking (google for this, and you'll find examples).
Or . . . add mashed bananas to pancake batter for banana pancakes (I use a thick whole-wheat batter and it works really well in this. Not sure how it would work in thinner batters).Sealed Pot Challenge 5 - #1742 :j0 -
BANANA CAKE!!!!!!! :j :j :j
I just make ordinary sponge, but replace some of the eggs with mashed up ripe bananas.
Eat when it's warm, fresh from oven(doesn't matter if it cooks a bit 'stodgy' as that makes it taste nicer!) This used to disappear in seconds when I lived in halls!
Or for a 'proper' banana cake recipe, try http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/search.shtml?scope=recipes&q=banana+cake

Hello all, I’m new on here, so sorry If I have got the wrong idea about the forum, but here goes…
I was shopping in Morrisons supermarket on Thursday and could not help but notice the excellent multi-value offers they have at present. I purchased 14 bananas in a big bunch because it was cheaper than buying 4 bananas separately. In addition I purchased 8 Muller yogurts which were on buy one get one free, which meant I had 16 yogurts with next weeks date on them.
I could not resist the multi-buy offers, despite being a single man in my 50s. The obvious problem is what can I do with 14 bananas and 16 Muller yogurts? I offered the young lady who lives next door to me a banana and she said she enjoys the odd banana at night but because they don’t keep well could only take one at a time.
As anyone got any solutions to my problem of being tempted in the supermarket by good deals and then getting home realising you have no one in your life to share them with?
Thanks

That is a good suggestion but im not too keen on the idea of having them mushed up, i prefer having them whole i think. Any more suggestions?0

Dont know about the yoghurt but if you lwave the bananas until they are really ripe you can make banana bread. (Google for a recipe).Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do.0
